After many restless hours, I found myself strolling through the ravine, heading towards the distant voices that sounded far too familiar.Tommy, Wilbur, Techno and Dream.
"It'll be fine Will"
"But what if she gets hurt Tech? I wouldn't be able to forgive myself!"
"I'll be there by her side through all of it. I need someone there with me. I can't snoop around an entire nation by myself in a couple of hours. And seeing as both you and Tommy aren't invited, she's the only option"
"You do realise I'm not a baby right? I can handle myself"When I turned the corner, I saw Wilbur and Tommy sitting at a tiny wooden table, Will with his face buried in his hands and Tommy staring off into space, seemingly contemplating things.
Techno had been pacing around the table and had only come to a halt to smirk at me. Dream sat slouched against the cave wall, the mask's eyes never meeting mines once as he stared at the pebble he was throwing between his hands.
Because we used to be such good friends, the sight almost made me sad. But, after remembering what he had done to me, I had to mentally slap myself for being upset about him of all people.
"I have one condition though..."
Everyone's head turned so they could give their full attention to me, even Dream.
"I want to be matching"
I grinned at Techno as I examined his cloak, ensuring that he understood exactly what I was planning.
"Alright fineeeee"One hour later, I was standing at the cave entrance with the same group of boys as before, but this time I was completely covered in netherite armour and a scarlet cape flew behind me. Me being me, I had managed to strap a rather special crossbow to my back that used to belong to a specific masked someone, but I made sure it stayed hidden by the cloak.
"I guess I'll see you guys later then"
I smiled eagerly at them all, apprehensive to see what my old home had become. I wasn't worried at all; after all, what could possibly go wrong at a harmless festival? But the concerned expressions on their faces made my smile falter ever so slightly. Something inside of me was telling me that they were hiding something from me. Before I could turn around, arms were wrapped around me as I hugged my little brother back."Good luck Y/N"
I tensed slightly at his gesture. He hadn't spoken to me properly in a while, he'd just been following Wilbur around like a lost puppy, forgetting about my existence. It was as if I hadn't existed at all. Yes, I was aware that I had left for a while, both on my own terms and not, but that was years ago and I was here now and that's what mattered. Right? I'd been trying to keep it together for them, only to be neglected and spoken to when I was needed, but now was my chance to show that I was more than just a backup plan."Pffff, I don't need luck. I have everything I need right in front of me"
I had managed to keep a fake smile on my face as I glanced between Tommy Wilbur and Techno, smiling at them all as Dream stood there like an awkward string bean.
"Well apart from Tubbo, Niki, L'manburg and some other things. You know what I mean"Another pair of arms wrapped around me, this time belonging to Wilbur. But it was the tiny weight that was added to my head that threw me off guard. Reaching up a hand, I felt the woolly texture of his hat sitting upon my head. Smiling at him, I felt Techno tug at my hand, telling me that it was time to go.
"Stay safe Y/N"
"I will, and I'll make sure to return it Will"With that, I said goodbye to the two boys and began the thirty-minute walk to L'manburg. The walk was mostly silent, with Dream and Techno occasionally exchanging words about the 'plan' as I looked around like a giddy baby.
