As I searched the area, the cool night breeze tossed my hair behind me. In the distance, the pitter-patter of footsteps could be heard.

Bingo.

I hurried into an alleyway and lifted myself onto some scaffolding that was being used for L'manburg's housing expansion. I got to the top of the building in a little under three minutes and leapt over to the nearly finished rooftop. My jump was exact, and I landed smoothly, making little to no noise in the process. I started army crawling across the roof, lowering myself onto all fours to stay hidden. I listened carefully for any movement from below.

The quiet sound of whispering soon rang in my ears, prompting me to glance over the edge to the ground several feet below. There were three figures lurking in the shadows, one of which stood out significantly more than the other two. His skin was brilliant orange, or should I say fur, and he was of normal height. He was dressed in a white T-shirt with a black hoodie with a few stripes painted across the middle over it and black slacks. Two big fluffy ears and a long bushy tail protruded from his head.

A fox hybrid.

The smallest of the group was the one I recognised. The same petite brunette was friends with Ranboo, whom I'd become incredibly good friends with after realising we both had memory loss. Ranboo had informed me the young boy went by Tubbo and was actually the president that Dream wanted me to keep an eye on. He appeared to be much more formal than when I originally saw him. His hair was nicely styled, and he stood boldly in a black suit with a crimson tie, which was very similar to Ranboo's typical attire.

The group's final member stood tall, an axe held securely in his right hand, visibly on alert. He was dressed in a bright blue tracksuit, with a matching beanie slung over his fluffy brown hair, similar to the one I'd been wearing since I awoke about a month ago.

They were clearly trying to hide, so I couldn't understand why they were standing out in the open discussing whatever they were planning. I jumped to another rooftop, only a metre distance from the one I was on before, but closer to the gathering of boys, by raising myself to a crouched position.

"He blew up the country Tubbo!"
The brunette winced slightly at the raised voice before straightening himself out.
"Listen Quackity, don't you think you're being a little irrational?"
Quackity, who appeared to be the one with the beanie, simply scoffed before approaching his president.
"He's a fugitive Tubbo! Technoblade assisted the enemy in blowing this whole fucking place up! He deserves what's coming for him"

I'd heard the name of this so-called Technoblade guy from the locals a few times previously. I only knew he was a notorious anarchist and merciless killer known as the Blood God. But I knew I was missing something, something that was just out of my reach. I just couldn't remember. Every time I brought him up to Dream, he dismissed me as if it were nothing. But there was no one else I could turn to for answers.
I was stuck in my own confusion.

Shaking away the thoughts, I tuned back into the conversation that was going on in front of me.
"Look Tubbo, I just need to show you something alright?"
As the fox boy remained silent, Tubbo only huffed and eventually nodded in agreement. Quackity simply turned and began walking away, followed by the other two. I could have followed them now, but the light was rising shortly, and I needed to get back to my bed, because when I'm asleep I'm at peace and the lack of memories won't taunt me. After a brisk walk, I found myself standing in the living room of the place I had to call home. I removed the mask as quickly as possible before realising Dream wasn't awake yet.

Shit.

Over the past month or so, Dream and I had agreed that one of us must be awake at all times in case something happened and they could wake the other, which meant I couldn't go to bed yet. Sighing, I concluded that being able to feel the breeze against my face would be a pleasant experience. I dashed out the back door to the garden and began running around like a child.

I eventually found myself humming along to a tune whose lyrics I couldn't recall. I started swaying to my humming, just jamming to myself and having fun. I had an imaginary mic and everything, and I was getting more into the song as I remembered some of the words.

"I always thought I might be bad"
"Now I'm sure that it's true"
"Cause I think you're so good"
"And I'm nothing like you-"

"Look at you go"
"I just adore you"
"I wish that I knew"
"What makes you think I'm so special"

I smiled in amusement as my eyes met the mask while he finished off his sudden outburst. His voice was deep, yet it was also calming, which surprised me. To say the least, it was pleasant. I could have listened to it all day.

"I've heard you sing that before"
As he approached me, the blond simply chuckled.
"Have you now? I don't quite recall singing in front of you before"
I just snorted a little as I brought my hand to the back of my neck.
"I may have overheard you..."
As he froze for a moment, I could almost hear him think.
"And when was this?"
"I don't really remember it all, I know it was something to do with hot chocolate though"
"Well it's good you're getting some of your memories back"

Little did I know he was mentally cursing himself for two reasons. One, if I started to remember things that easily then the whole point of it all would be ruined, and two, I didn't remember the rest of what happened that day, like how I'd called him pretty and assumed he didn't hear when he showed me his face for the first time.

God that had meant so much to him.

All of a sudden, he stuck out his hand in my direction.
"Anyways, you want to dance princess?"
I gulped as I averted my gaze for the first time since he'd made his presence known.
"I don't know..."
He simply chuckled before grasping my hand and tugging me in his direction.
"I'll show you what to do, just step on my feet and I'll lead the way"

I slowly wrapped my arms around his neck as he wrapped his around my torso, drawing me in far closer than I had anticipated. And it was then that he began humming a soothing melody for us to sway to. I began to relax in his grip, at ease in his arms. As he continued to hum the song, I gently put my head on his chest, listening to the vibrations as he continued to hum the song. I soon felt his chin rest upon my head as I began to mumble the words to myself.

"More than summers and afternoons"

"I'm in love with you"
