My jaw fell open ever so slightly at his remark. I couldn't quite comprehend how the biggest arsehole I knew had once been that gorgeous blond boy enjoying his time with his friends in the painting that hung behind his desk. If someone had told me he had a painting, I would've assumed it would've been a portrait of him that he looked at for hours every day just so he could fuel his ego.

I slowly turned around to see him leaning smugly against the doorframe with the mask facing me as he tried to analyse my reaction, but I kept a straight face. I didn't believe him if I'm being honest. I don't know why I didn't, it just didn't feel right. The young blond looked so happy, almost as if he didn't have a worry in the world. But the man in front of me, however, acted as if he had never had a childhood, as if he didn't have any happy memories to give him joy in his darkest hours. They were completely different people, but deep down somewhere, they were the same.

Dream made his way over to the desk, which only took him a couple of strides because of his long legs. It only just occurred to me at that point that he was rather tall. Clearing my throat, I readjusted my posture in the chair I sat on, turning my full body to face the large desk and the man who sat behind it. I slowly started fidgeting with my thumbs as I felt a wave of nerves rush over me, scared to hear what he had to say.

The room fell silent instantly as all eyes were drawn to the masked figure who sat in front of us. Eventually, he cleared his throat as he seemed to finally realise that we were waiting for him to say something. He quickly looked over at George, Sapnap and then his gaze landed on me.

"I gathered you all here today to discuss the current situation we find ourselves in with Y/N"
I tilted my head in confusion, waiting for him to explain himself. All eyes were quick to land on me, which made my anxiety rise.

"Personally, I don't see the point of keeping her locked up in a cell because she's just eating away at our food while not doing anything productive or helping us when she could be helping us out"
My eyes widened. I couldn't work out if he was saying that I could go home because he didn't need me anymore or if he was saying something completely different.

"And it's also been brought to my attention that if we do let her go, she'll have information about the base that the enemy doesn't know about yet"
His words shattered every ounce of hope I had.
The only thing that came to my mind was that he was going to kill me.
It was the only logical outcome to it all.

In his mind, I wouldn't be able to tell anyone anything if I was dead. I just stared wide-eyed at the mask, but he just turned away from me to look between the other two boys to see their reactions to what he had said. Noticing that neither of them made any protests, he decided to continue.

Dream's POV

"So what I'm suggesting is that we widen the boundaries a little"
He stopped while the corners of his lips started to upturn from behind the mask as he saw the relieved look on the girl's face that sat before him. He assumed she thought he was going to kill her, but he knew that an extra set of hands would be helpful around the base, so he had decided to keep her around for the time being.

Y/N's POV

"And due to the fact that I don't hear any screams of disagreement, I'm guessing that you both like the idea"
I turned my face away from the masked one to look at the two boys to my right. Sapnap quickly nodded, a huge mischievous grin on his face while George didn't look so sure.

"So where's she allowed to go now then?"
"She'll be allowed around the base and its grounds while being under supervision for the most time possible until we know we can trust her"
They spoke like I wasn't in the room, like I wasn't sitting right next to them.
"And IF she even thinks about going against us and trying to escape, her brother, along with his little friends, will die at my hands"

His tone had changed in a blink of an eye, becoming lower and more serious just to prove that he definitely wasn't bluffing. His masked eyes were back at me and I could tell that beneath the prosthetic he had in fact narrowed his eyes at me, as I could feel his glare piercing a hole in my skin as a shiver made its way down my spine.

"So what do you think about this Y/N"
His voice had changed once again, back to how it had been before he had threatened me.

"That sounds amazing Dream"
I tried my best not to stutter over my words as I was in shock from his sudden mood change.

"Great, that's all I needed to discuss with you right now"
I nodded, taking his words as a polite way to ask me to leave. Standing up, I glanced over at Sapnap, who still had the same grin on his face as before. And then I turned to the door. My shoes tapped on the cold stone floor as I left, swinging the door shut behind me.

Hesitantly, I leaned my head against the door that I had just exited through, curious about what was about to be said.
"Look, I know you two have grown rather fond of her, but we need to remember that she's still a prisoner here"

I backed away slightly from the closed door as a wave of guilt washed over me for invading their privacy. Staring at the door for another moment or so, I decided to go back to my room and ignore what the masked man had said to the other two, because I wasn't meant to hear it anyways.

If only she'd stayed to hear Dream admit that he was fond of her too.
