46. Decade Of Decadence

Nadia:

"I shouldn't have said that to him." My mom sighed as we entered mine and Nikki's home in Hidden Hills.

"Mom relax. You didn't know that was his girlfriend. Also, you spoke about him and me being together like.. back in high school. It's no big deal." I reassured her

"Yeah, but he might be thinking how do I always perfectly manage to mess up his relationships. First back then with you and now this." She said slumping down on the sofa.

"I think that you are overthinking. I want you to calm down and relax." I laughed while she rolled her eyes before glaring at my nonchalance.

"That reminds me David asked me to ask you something," I smirked

"Oh my god, not again." She sighed burying her face in her hands

My boss may have developed a little bit of feelings towards my mother. She thinks it won't be appropriate for her to date her daughter's boss and also she feels she is too old to be in a relationship and the only relationship she wants to spend any energy on is the one with me.

"Come on mom, he is nice! He is annoying but he is a nice guy and he actually likes you." I said

Maybe his fondness towards her was the reason why he pretty much took up the role of a shrink in my life. Maybe he wanted to help her or both of us.

"Nadi, we have spoken about this. I have a career and look at me I am like fifty, why will I start a relationship now? Plus he is your boss." She argued

"What does age have to do with this? Also, look at dad, he is married to Emi for about five years now." I don't get my mom sometimes. Like yes, I am grateful for how far my relationship with her has improved but that doesn't mean I wanna be the only important thing in her life. Also, she talks like she is 90 while David is sweet 16. He is just two years younger than her. I know she likes David too like I can feel it. Just for my sake pushing him away doesn't seem right. If I don't give a shit that he is my boss, why is she so affected by it?

"Your dad is different. I am not a rockstar or anything." She said

"Oh okay then. If that's the case I will just tell David no. I mean you don't even wanna hear what he had to say right?" I narrowed my eyes and I swear I saw her lift her eyes and steal a quick glance at me before looking away. Ha!!

"No, tell me."

"You are anyway gonna say no. I will tell him mom said no." I was trying my best to not grin

"Tell!!" She was getting annoyed.

"Fine. If you wanna know so badly. He asked if he can come with you as your date for the tenth-anniversary celebration of Mötley..... I will tell him no." I added quickly when I saw her eyes widen in shock.

"No like. Don't say a straight no. Tell him he can come. But it's just cordial..... Nothing else." She said her expressions ranging somewhere between a small blush and denial. Now I understand where I get the whole denial of romance attitude from.

"So you mean there is nothing between you both?" I asked emphasizing the word nothing.

She shook her head.

"Okay, mother. I am gonna go sleep now." I said

"Yeah, I will be in the guest bedroom. Call me if you need anything." She said taking a step forward to give me a hug only I stepped back.

"You know I can't....." I mumbled. My first priority right now was just improving our communication. I still haven't become comfortable with any of the physical signs of showing affection towards a parent. Well, I never had it when I wanted it so now when she was ready to give it I wasn't comfortable with it.
