A Whisper In The Wind

The smell of a freshly ripe strawberry being bitten entered Lucifer's nose, a scent he hadn't come across since he was a young angel, still roaming the heavens above. An image of you entered his head, your thin lips closing around those luscious red strawberries, as red as his skin when he was in his true form.

You hadn't been around him for long, the two of you admired each other from afar, you only having spoken to God himself and Lucifer only having spoken to your auntie, you never directly interacted, your longing for one another being built purely from the stories your families told.

If you had been given more time, you would have approached him, you'd have found some form of excuse or waited to a day that you couldn't talk to god due to him having a meeting and passed on a message through Lucifer.

But war came first.

One of God's closest allies turned against him, her plan to take over from the inside out had been planned over many years, the day they attacked, many angels were lost, God and his son's taking priority safety-wise in order to win, Lucifer didn't see much of the battle, once again, only learning of your part in it all once it was over, once it was too late.

Once you were dead.

He hadn't reacted well and you could suppose that's where some of the angst between Lucifer and his father had started. Lucifer thought he could have saved you if he had the chance to fight, to be out in the middle of it all instead of being hidden.

However, it wasn't as possible as he'd come to think. You were stabbed by the flaming sword, or in other words, Azrael's blade before it was split. You were completely wiped from existence, unlike Lucifer thought. For what he knew was that you had been sent to Earth in your death, to guide a human.

He had come up from his throne, partially due to being sick of his role but mostly because he wanted to see if he could find you, that he could finally have you by his side, as a friend and hopefully, with time, as queen.

Somehow though, you had found him first, even though you weren't supposed to exist any longer, you were there, everywhere, the simple air to the room was you. You were a whisper in the wind.

"Lucifer..." Your sweet voice surrounded him.

"Y/N?" He questions spinning around, trying to find you. "Where are you?"
"I'm here but not really." Your voice was barely a whisper.

"What? I don't understand."
"Shh, Lucifer, I don't have time." Lucifer could have sworn he felt frigid fingers brush against his lips. "The flaming sword... that was my fate..." The air that was you danced around him.

"The- The flaming sword.... But you shouldn't exist.... How?"
"Stop your questions. Stop your quest to find me... find my killer instead."
"If it was the flaming sword that killed you, then it wasn't just any angel who killed you." He gulped wishing he could concentrate on your eyes as he spoke.

"The wind is calling me Lucifer, I cannot say their name." Your voice starts to fade as if you were walking from the room.

"How do I find you, when I find them?" He rises from his seat at the piano.

"Just call to me, call to the wind, mean what you say, and I shall be at your beck and call." You were being hurried now, in a rush to leave.
"Give me a clue, somewhere to begin..." He asks for one more thing, pushing his luck and you gave him the rest of your strength, the deafening whisper ringing through his head.
"Family."

Sorry, it's shorter but I hope you like it, I promise "You can Jump for All I Care" part three is coming, along with other things.
