Wanna know why the tax for tobacco is so high (also the thing itself)? No? Well fuck your opinion 'cause I'm telling you anyway!

It was dated at the time of colonization. You remember the time when the US colonized us? It was more like settling over her because oh boy, did us natives put up a fight. Along with bringing their people, culture, the occasional invasive species (I mean, humans were already invasive), they brought some plants, including tobacco.

When smoking tobacco, it produced this horrid smell not a single Pokémon nor native human liked. It also shortened the lifespan of certain Pokémon, which for the era of Pokémon slavery, was a big no-no. At the time, there were not as many physic types are there are today so this was a bigger problem back then.

It should also be noted the soil there was not suited for growing tobacco as well. Not only was tobacco low in demand, the effort to growing it was not worth it. In my area, it was too cold and moist to grow it anyway (gee, I wonder why).

Once Kodoka officially came into being, the country banned tobacco. It came a much higher price for it's people than it needed. Plus, you're not even including the import costs for a country consisting of a shit ton of islands. You can actually go into poverty if you do business in the industry at this time.

Later on, Kodoka legalized tobacco at a cost. The base price for products containing it was expensive. The tax for it was pretty much 50% of it. Tobacco products were seen as a (stupid) wealth status & generally meant who ever had it would become poor at managing money.

The only reason it was legalized so late was for scientific (and potentially medical) purposes. It was put in the same restrictions as alcohol: you can only buy one pack per week. Unlike alcohol, you cannot say you're buying multiple for a party. I'm not joking about this country's strictness on shit that can hurt you.

Now you guys know a bit more of this country's weird-ass history & why tobacco taxes were made to preserve Pokémon slavery. There's a lot weirder things in this country than you think, it's probably more dangerous than Australia once you think about it.

We literally have a 78.74 cm electric spider native to this region, what more? Apple dragons? Carnivorous snowflakes? A HUGE ASS SQUID THAT'S 160 CM? I'm quite surprised minimum age for becoming a Pokémon trainer ha- oh wait, it did.

The decision was drafted in 2000 and passed in early 2002. You now have to be 13 instead of 11. That's for the Eastern (West for country) region of the country, the minimum here is Unova & it's broken-off parts is still 14.

Summary: Kodoka's history is wack.
