Forbidden Love [Loki x reader] (Part 1)

Chapter 15 - pulse

— 3rd person view —

The day just went like yesterday. Everyone trained a bit and Tony, Bruce and Vision are working on the machine.

-Loki: "How much more do I have to tell you, that I just woke up shortly before you came inside the room?", he asked Thor annoyed.
-Thor: "Then fight me and show that you're not tired at all."
-Loki: "Thor, this is ridiculous you-"

Thor started to attack Loki because he was tired listening because he knew he was right. In the meantime Tony, Bruce and Vision are putting the last piece of the machine carefully to it. They're very tensed and Vision has to wipe the sweat of Tony's face sometimes.

-Vision: "Does it work?"
-Tony: "It seems like it really does!", he answered happily.

Bruce and Vision are on their way to get the others to tell them the good news. As they are all together at the "living room" Tony shows them the new device.

-Loki: "Is it working properly?", he asked calmly.
-Tony: "I don't know, but it didn't explode as we put the last piece into it."
-Loki: "You've got to be kidding me, don't you? First you're telling me that this stupid machine will only work for 10 percent and then you're telling after you gave us hope, but you don't even know if this shit works?!", he got really pissed off.
-Tony: "I want to find her too. This is our only option and I wanted to test it while y'all are here, but the next time I'll just do that by myself too.", he answered just as annoyed.

Loki was quite but still very annoyed. However Tony continued to explain what the machine exactly does and how it's working.

-Steve: "I don't want to ruin the excitement, but all of this seems too easy, there must be something difficult."
-Tony: "Yes. We need someone who is close to her, so that the device can find her."
-Natasha: "That's impossible. No one knows her longer than one day."
-Tony: "We have to try it and whoever has the strongest connection to her should do this."
-Strange: "And how do we know who has the strongest connection to her?"
-Bruce: "With Jarvis. We programmed him that he can find it out."
-Thor: "And how exactly is Jarvis doing this?"
-Bruce: "By your pulse. It will play some videos that we got from her while she was here and whoever has the highest pulse has to try it with the machine."
-Tony: "Okay, let's get started to get done with this really quick.", he wanted to leave the room, but Wanda stopped him.
-Wanda: "Is it going to hurt when the connection is not strong enough?", Tony turned around and faced them again.
-Tony: "I guess we will find that out later."

It was a silence again, but then he went away into the laboratory and started testing himself and Bruce.

Their pulses were almost the same and not even really much higher than their normal one. The next ones are Natasha and Steve. It's the same as by them before. Also when they tested Thor and Clint nothing really happened. Wanda, Vision, Bucky and Stephen didn't need to be tested, because they don't know Y/n. The last one, who no one really wanted to test, was Loki of course.

He sits down on a chair, a measure device is wrapped around his arm and Jarvis is playing videos of them fighting. Loki watches them carefully and Tony was surprised about his reaction to the videos. Loki's pulse was definitely the highest of all.

-Loki: "I don't want to hear anything, Thor.", he said annoyed as he came back to the others.
-Thor: "Okay, then explain why your pulse is that high.", he said jokingly.
-Loki: "She is annoying and I spent the most time with her. When I saw her I imagined how I would stab her with one of my daggers. Oh it was fun.", he said in a dark voice and with a deep look in his eyes as if he would imagine it right now.

Thor immediately shut up and stopped smiling. He is not sure if Loki is lying or not, because he got stabbed by him a lot.

-Strange: "So when are we starting the machine?", he urged.
-Tony: "I have nothing to wait for."
-Natasha: "Loki?", everyone is looking at him and he nods.

They all go outside just incase the machine explodes again. That's also the first time everyone sees the machine. There are many tubes and in the middle there is a cube that looks almost like the Tesseract, but it's colour is black. Loki takes the cube and starts to think about Y/n, just as Tony told him to. The cube started glowing and it burns Loki's hand. He tries to not let go, but it got too painful. They assume that the connection was not strong enough for the machine to find her.

Loki refuses that anyone is bandaging his hand, because he was upset. Upset about himself and everyone else. Thor advised the Avengers to let him be alone and that's what they did. Loki went to the conference room and no one knew, because they needed some time for themselves after this disappointment.
