I should ask Cho to the Yule Ball, Harry thought as he stared at his food, ears ringing about the upcoming Yule Ball. He rubbed his face tiredly, wishing silently for a break. I'll ask her tomorrow.

He had checked the Marauders' Map and double-checked it just in case to see where Cho was heading. He ruffled his hair nervously and head down towards where she was heading, bringing along a bouquet of roses with him. He arrived at the place, nerves skyrocketing above the atmosphere. He stood there, reciting the words again and again in his mind, having his back turned to the entrance of whatever that place was.

He waited for a while and soon enough he heard footsteps coming towards him. Panicking like there's no tomorrow, he turned around with his eyes closed tight, hands stretched out with the bouquet and blurted out before he chickened out, "Would you go to the Yule Ball with me?"

There was silence for a few seconds before a voice answered.

And that voice definitely doesn't belong to the Ravenclaw Seeker, Cho Chang.

"I thought you were supposed to be a Gryffindor, Potter, and yet here you are asking me to the Ball with your eyes closed. I feel insulted but yes, I'll go with you to the Yule Ball, four-eyes," Draco Malfoy smirked in amusement, grey eyes glinting with mirth.

Harry stared at him speechlessly with eyes wide, heart thudding against his chest because of course, he had to be an idiot by not checking who the bloody tits he was asking. Malfoy took the flowers from him with a small smile, probably thinking it was for him when it's not. "They're lovely flowers. Thank you," he said softly, letting his guard down to peer at Harry shyly.

"See you, Harry," he ducked his head, cheeks tinted with pink as he left.

Harry made a strangled noise at the back of his throat because holy shit, he had a date to the Yule Ball and the said date was Draco Malfoy. Ron and Hermione would be so mad at him.

He inhaled sharply and ran off towards the Gryffindor Tower to tell his friends about his predicament.

. . .

"You bloody did what?!" Ron bellowed, face turning as red as his hair. "You asked Draco bloody Malfoy to the bloody Ball as your bloody date?!"

"It was an accident!" Harry moaned pitifully. "What do I do now?"

"I think you should go ahead with it," said Hermione with a wry smile. "I'm not a fan of Malfoy either but at least you already have a date even if it's Malfoy. Besides, you don't have to think about the Yule Ball anymore. You can focus on your task now. Have you figured out what the second task would be?"

"You have a point," he sighed. "Even if I asked Cho out, she would've said no because I heard from Parvati that Cedric asked her out already. And no, I still got no clue on what it's gonna be."

"Tough luck, mate."

The Great Hall was deadly quiet the moment they saw Harry approaching the Slytherin table with a bright blush on his face, towards one familiar blond. "Malfoy," he muttered, shifting from left to right, keeping his head down.
