_________________________________________Harry blinked profusely as he stared at the ceiling, panting, throat hurting from screaming, completely covered in sweat because of yet another nightmare that kept him awake once again. He sighed as he sat up, running a hand through his hair. Reaching for his glasses, he looked towards his roommate, Draco Malfoy, who was still soundlessly asleep.
Both of them had really bad nightmares more so than other people. Ever since the war, Harry thought that Draco and himself were the ones getting the most effects from the remnants. They had talked to each other a few days after coming back to Hogwarts for their Eighth Year, opening up their secrets and baring themselves naked to each other. No, not in that way. You need your brain washed with a Holy Cleansing Spell.
It felt like a burden had been pushed off his shoulders, finally letting him breathe.
Pushing himself off the bed, he walked towards the bathroom to shower. He let himself soaked from head to toe with cold water, wanting to wash away the excess heat from his body. He sighed again, washing his body with soap and shampoo before turning off the shower. Once he had dried himself, he pulled on some black sweatpants and a large oversized green hoodie.
He went to the Common Room kitchen and made himself some hot cocoa before settling down on one of the couch near the fireplace. He pulled on a blanket and leaned against a pillow, sipping his beverage as he watched the fire continued to burn, spreading the cold place up with some warmth.
"I was wondering where you'd disappear to," someone spoke softly behind him. Harry turned his head to see a tired and sleepy looking Draco standing there in his satin pyjamas. "Had a nightmare," the former Gryffindor smiled hesitantly. "I didn't wake you up, did I?" Draco shook his head as he sat next to Harry. "No, I woke up because of my bladder and saw your bed empty. Thought you might have a nightmare and went for a night walk."
Harry sipped his cocoa with a sigh. "I couldn't muster the energy to walk at the moment," he said honestly. Draco leaned closer to him until he could spell the apple-scented shampoo and the cinnamon soap he always used. Harry couldn't help but pressed his shoulders against the other. "What was the nightmare about this time, Harry?"
"You," Harry blurted out.
"Me?"
"Yeah."
"What was it about?" Draco asked patiently, pulling Harry into his arms. The latter relaxed in the warm comforting embrace. "The fiendfyre," he answered. "Whenever I dream about that, it was always the same. It was always about me failing to save you from it," he said. Draco tightened his arms around him and buried his face in his neck. "Yeah? You did save me, Harry." Harry let Draco took the mug and placed it on the small table. "I'm still here, alive and breathing, holding you to my body so tight."
Harry felt his chest contracted painfully before expanding. He panted, gasping. "Draco," he whispered. "I'm right here, Harry. It's okay. Let it go," the elder cooed softly at him. "Let the tears flow," he coaxed and the dam Harry tried so hard to hold back finally burst. He turned to straddle Draco, sobbing into his neck. "I don't want– I don't–" he choked out, clutching onto Draco's shirt tightly. "I don't want to dream about that anymore! I don't want to keep failing to save you!"
"Oh sweetheart," Draco rubbed his back gently. Harry's heart stuttered a beat before speeding up. "But you did save me, love. You did," he pulled him away and cupped his cheek lovingly. Grabbing Harry's right hand, Draco pressed the palm to his chest, feeling the heart beating underneath it. "See, Harry? I'm right here. I'm alive. I'm with you. You're in my lap. We're in the Common Room. Everything's over. It's over. It's just us, Harry. It's just you and me. Just us."
Harry ducked his head to avoid looking at the intense silver mercury eyes.
"I'm right here, Harry."
"And you're right here with me."
Harry immediately looked up, watching as Draco smiled adoringly at him, wiping away the tears while cooing. "See? It's nothing but a nightmare, darling."
"Draco?" he croaked out.
"Yes, Harry?"
"Kiss me?"
"Of course, Harry. Anything you need."
Draco wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled the male closer as he kissed him deeply and passionately. Harry shuddered at the intensity of the kiss but kissed back with the same amount of passion. Moaning softly when the blond bit his bottom lip lightly, Harry pulled away.
"I need you, Draco," Harry confessed shyly. "Please don't ever leave me?"
"I won't leave you, Harry. I'll stay with you for as long as you need me to. I'll be here with you forever," Draco promised, bringing Harry's hand to his lips, kissing the knuckles as softly as possible.
"Forever?" Harry sniffled. "That's a long time, Draco."
"That's just how long I want to be with you, Harry. I don't even think forever is enough for me when it comes to you," Draco smirked. Harry smacked his chest lightly, blushing bright red.
They moved around the couch and cuddled with each other until morning comes. "Thank you so much, Draco. For comforting me and for being here."
"There's no need to thank me, Harry. I'm just helping you out as a friend."
"Only as a friend?"
Draco looked at Harry with a raised eyebrow. "You want more?"
"Yeah. Boyfriends. That has a better ring for us than friends," Harry grinned at him cheekily, giggling when Draco playfully tickled him.
"Boyfriends. Huh, I can work with that."
