fluff, angst with happy ending, temporary major character's death
______________________________________Before Hogwarts
In Diagon Alley, Harry James Potter entered the Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions with an awestruck look. The bell rang as he opened the door, signalling his entrance to the shop to get his school robes fitted. A lady who he thought was surely Madam Malkin ushered him in and stood on a platform to be fitted.
He was nervously looking around before another child's voice cut him off his flitting thoughts.
"Hogwarts too?" he was asked by a cute blond boy standing on the platform next to his own. Harry nodded his head with a timid smile. "Oh, great! I'm going there as well. What house would you be sorted in? I am gonna be a Slytherin. My entire family was a Slytherin!" Harry only looked at him with a confused look. Sorting? Slytherin?
Before Harry could ask him what he meant by them, Madam Malkin came to the boy with his robes. "Thank you," he said poshly with a polite smile before smiling genuinely at Harry. Oh, he has a pretty smile, he thought but never voicing it out.
"I'll see you soon. Hopefully, you'll be with me in Slytherin. Have a nice day," he smirked before walking off towards what looks like his parents.
Harry took his robes from Madam Malkin when she handed them to him, paying them with a polite smile of his own. Then, he walked towards Hagrid with a grin. I forgot to ask for his name, he thought in realisation. Hopefully, I'll see him soon then.

On Hogwarts Train
Harry was sitting alone when a boy his age with bright ginger hair opened the compartment door. "Oh, sorry!" the latter apologised. "Everywhere else is full. Can I sit with you?" he asked and Harry grinned, beckoning towards the unoccupied seat in front of him. "Go ahead."
"I'm Ron Weasley."
"Harry Potter," he introduced back and Ron did a double-take. "Merlin, do you have that scar?" Ron asked with wide eyes. Harry showed the scar on his forehead to him and Ron grinned at the sight. "Wicked, mate."
They talked about a lot of stuff about Hogwarts before a bushy-haired girl came to ask about a missing toad that belonged to a Neville Longbottom. They denied ever seeing one and then introduced themselves to her after she did. Hermione repaired Harry's glasses and was about to leave when suddenly the compartment door opened and the pretty boy from the robe shop appeared at the door.
"Oh, finally! I found you! I was searching everywhere for you!" he said with an exasperated sigh. "I forgot to introduce myself to you. My name is Malfoy. Draco Malfoy," he introduced himself with a smug grin. Suddenly Ron snorted and Draco's grin turned to a sour scowl.
"Think my name is funny, don't you?"
"Wait," he eyed Ron with narrowed eyes. "Ginger hair with freckles too many on one's face. Familiar. Too familiar. You must be a Weasley, the poor blood traitor family that has too many children to bear," he said with utter disdain. Harry felt offended by the expression even though it was not directed to him. "Malfoy," Ron frowned back at him, face flushing as red as his hair by the insult.
