Harry Potter received the news that Andromeda Tonks passed away on a Saturday morning only after 3 months he returned to Hogwarts while he was having his breakfast in the Great Hall with his friends. He was heartbroken when he received the letter. His heart dropped to his stomach when he realised that no one would be able to take care of Teddy Lupin.
Not wanting to burden anyone, he took on the responsibility to take care of the child himself despite not finishing his school yet and not knowing how to care for a baby. Even though it's a struggle, Teddy living with him was the best thing that could've happened to him. So, he wouldn't complain.
A month passed and he noticed that Draco Malfoy kept on staring at him and Teddy whenever he caught sight of them. Distinctively he knew that those two were related as Andromeda were Narcissa's sister and Teddy's mother, Nymphadora, was his cousin.
Therefore, Teddy should be Malfoy's cousin once removed. He realised that Teddy did have other living relatives and decided that Malfoy should get to know his cousin more.
When Harry was feeding Teddy in the Great Hall at dinner, he felt a familiar sense of someone staring at him. He instantly looked up and his green eyes caught the familiar lonely grey eyes from the Slytherin table. Smiling slightly, Harry beckoned him to approach them. Ron and Hermione stared at him as if he had lost his mind but he didn't care. Malfoy was hesitating clearly, fearing to sit with a bunch of lions as a lone snake.
The raven tilted his head, bouncing the babbling black-haired baby in his arms a little. "Come," Harry mouthed and finally, Malfoy stood up slowly, approaching the Gryffindor's table. The entire Hall went quiet, staring after Malfoy with scrutiny, trying to see what he's gonna do.
"Hello, Malfoy," Harry greeted, patting the empty seat next to him. "Come and sit down," he said and Malfoy did as told. "What is he doing here, Harry?! The snake not allowed here!" someone from the table yelled but Harry ignored them. Instead, he focused on Malfoy, who was sitting with his back ramrod straight, tensed as if he was waiting for someone to pounce on him and hex him.
"Relax, Malfoy. No one will hurt you. I'll protect you," Harry said, patting the blond's arm gently. Teddy stared at Malfoy silently as if he was judging the male's character. "Do you want to hold him?" Harry asked.
"I-I do not-" Malfoy tensed even further and Harry smiled with slight sympathy. "It's okay if you don't know how to handle a baby. Neither did I at first. You'll learn," he reassured.
"Teddy Lupin, say hi to Draco Malfoy. He's your cousin, squirt. Malfoy, this is Teddy," he introduced. "Now hold out your arms like you're cradling something. Teddy's already almost a year old so his head doesn't need support as newborns usually needed. But if you want to be cautious, you can hold his head."
The two relatives stared at each other in silence. Harry batted his breath to see how Teddy reacted to Malfoy and to his surprise, Teddy's hair turned entirely blond and his eyes turned grey.

"Oh," Malfoy whispered in realisation. "He's a metamorphmagus."
Harry smiled and nudged Malfoy gently, eating his food. "Teddy likes you, Malfoy. I'd say a lot if he's changing eyes and hair colour. He never did that to anyone except for me. Consider yourself lucky."
