Hogwarts Fourth Year, I guess.
_________________________________________Harry was strolling down the corridor on his own, taking his leisure time to think about his Triwizard tasks, so deep into his mind to the point that he almost missed the sudden squeaks that don't seem to belong to a human. He stopped to listen again, closely paying attention this time so that he wouldn't miss it.
Those soft squeaks seemed to come from the alcove, Harry realised.
Heading over to investigate, he found a pile of black cloths. That's odd, he thought. I swore I heard something– Oh. Underneath the pile seemed to be something squirming around as if in distress. Harry squatted down slowly and peaked underneath the cloth to see a familiar-looking white ferret bristling at him as if intimidated.
"Malfoy?" he tested as the ferret bristled even more. "Ah, so it is you. What happened?" Malfoy squeaked slightly before stopping as if he knew it was a lost cause to tell Harry what happened. "Well, I have to go back to the dorm but I can't leave you here on your own now, can I? Come along."
The human turned ferret stood on his legs as if begging to be picked up. Cute, Harry thought fondly before blinking in surprise. Did I just...? No. Absolutely not. Nope. He waved the thought away and picked Malfoy up, placing him on his right shoulder to which he sat there with his head held high as if he was on top of the world. Harry couldn't help but smile.
"I ought to give you a new name before everyone knew you were turned into a ferret. I don't think you'd want that, do you? And no, don't ask me why I'm being considerate. Usually, I would have laughed but I can't help but feel bad."
Malfoy nudged his ear slightly with his head, pawing at his hair as if to say 'thank you'. "You're welcome, Malfoy."
"How about Nipper?" Harry voiced out his thoughts and Malfoy seemed to glare at him. "Alright. Not Nipper then. How about Princess. That name suits your attitude well," he snarked. Malfoy squeaked indignantly before he started to purr contently when Harry petted him.
As he got to the luckily empty Common Room, he quickly went to the boys' dormitory and placed Malfoy on his bed. Like a cat, the ferret kneaded the bed before plop himself down in a curled up position in the middle of the bed. Harry shook his head and started to do his night routine before joining Malfoy. The fluffy animal fussed at being jostled before settling himself under Harry's armpit, burying his face there and fell asleep right there and then.
Harry carefully placed his glasses on the nightstand and laid down on the bed properly, minding not to move Malfoy from his sleeping position. "Goodnight, Malfoy," he said softly. The other only answered by burying his face even further into his armpit.
Soon both of them fall asleep.

The Gryffindor woke up the next morning to a whiskered nose nudging and sniffing his jaw. He laid there without opening his eyes, remembering the incident that happened yesterday regarding one Draco Malfoy. He waited, wanting to see what Malfoy would do if Harry didn't move at all.
The ferret nudged his jaw insistently, squeaking softly as if to say "Wake up, Potter!"
Finally giving in, Harry opened one eye and greeted him. "Good morning, Princess," he said with a deep sleepy voice. Malfoy haltered while looking at him with those beautiful silver eyes–
Oh for Godric's sake, Harry! Don't call his eyes beautiful even if it gleams like the fucking Moon or even resembles liquid mercury!
