Tap. Tap. Tap. He peered through the window, and saw his friend outside on the wet porch. They looked miserable standing there without some sort of covering to the rain.

Vinny looked both confusion and shock as he opened the door for the smaller boy. Mateo jumped as the brunette opened the door in front of him, his brown eyes adjusting to the light from inside the house.

"What happened to you? You look like you're going to freeze!" Vinny asked, glancing at the brunette from head to toe, noting the water drops that were dripping everywhere. Mateo shivered, and quietly spoke, "Well, I'm sorry for intruding like this..."

He was cut-off by Vinny pulling him inside, and wrapping the boy with a fluffy towel to dry him off. Mateo seemed content with it, he was trying to get to Vinny's house on this rainy day, but a slight accident occurred with the slippery road, leaving him stranded here for now. His car crashed into the side of the road so somebody towed it away to be repaired.

Mateo secretly hoped that Vinny wouldn't push him out of the house early, even though he might be a burden to handle. He hoped he wasn't, but was he?

Vinny sighed as he brushed Mateo dry with the soft towel. This was a first, but obviously, there's also a first for everything. "Next time, let me know if you get into any trouble," he said as the towel soaked up the last bits of water.

Mateo nodded slightly, then quietly sneezed. He had now caught a slight cold from the rain. Vinny shook his head in concern, then went back to the kitchen for the medicine cabinet. He came back with the flu syrup, the cherry-flavored one, and a small measuring cup. Slowly and carefully pouring the pink liquid, he screwed the top back on the bottle, then handed the small cup to Mateo. He made a face, but drank it.

The taller boy smiled, which slowly dissipated into a slight frown of concern. "You can stay here for the night if you want," he slowly whispered, "unless you don't want to, I'm just making sure."

"I'll stay," Mateo quickly spoke as if he were waiting for Vinny to ask. The other brunette notices this, but disregards it as he leads the shorter boy to the guest room. Vinny lays out the covers of the mattress, then close the shades of the windows. Mateo squeaks happily when landing on the bed, to which Vinny laughs.

"Careful, don't soil it," Vinny laughs, to which Mateo stepped off the bed quickly.

"Sorry!" Mateo says as Vinny re-straightened the covers (they were a bit wrinkled because of Mateo).

"It's fine, don't worry," Vinny says. He didn't really mind about it at all, since he was one of his best friends. He smiles at the boy, and put an arm around his shoulder.

Mateo smiles back, which is adorable with his slight dimples. He didn't usually smile as often as most people, but right now, he felt like doing so. It was always good to have a friend around, especially those who mean the most to you.
