[REZA]

"But what if I never find them? I'll be lonely my entire life!" Mateo wailed, his hands wiping against his teary face. I shook my head as I touched his shoulder gently.

"Now look on the bright side. You will one day find your soulmate, just like everyone else. I'll be right by your side if you need it," I said, giving him a comforting smile.

With that, he calmed down sooner than expected, but still worried. Mateo was always careful about what could happen in the future, and it was sometimes a bit funny to hear what he has to say about them.

One time, when we were about to head up to the mountains together for a field trip, he said, "What if an avalanche starts? What if we get lost up there? What if-"

"Relax, Mat, we've got nothing to worry about, and even if the mountain does somehow fall on us, at least we can die together," is what my response was. I mean, how often does mountains fall on people? Very little chance, but I'm willing to risk it.

"Okay, okay, but if we do somehow get hurt, I'm blaming you," he pouted. I dragged the boy to his room to get ready. After all, you need supplies to prevent accidents of falling off the mountains, right?

[MATEO]

Reza was holding a community party, a get-together for the entire neighborhood to know each other, and boy, was I tense. I'm not very good around people, well, except Reza, but most of the time, I don't get along with much. Maybe it is because I am shy or maybe it was because I never tried to get along with anybody else.

I know, I know, I should go out and make more friends and have more supportive buddies around, but if you're a person like me, you'll find it difficult to do.

Reza convinced me that this would be an opportunity to help me find my own soulmate. Soulmates usually are connected to one another, and they are tied by destiny.

My case of soulmates is that I have a blurry vision of grey and white, in other words, I can't really see colors at the moment. It makes me annoyed as I want to see everything vividly, and I've been stoked through Reza's explanation on colors. It has also been said that once you find your soulmate, you would finally be able to see colors and all the beautiful art that the world has to offer.

I, on one hand, am excited to find them, whoever they are, but it would probably be hard to do so. Maybe I won't find mine today at the party, but maybe I'd get to know a few people around.

We set up for the party and awaited for our neighbors to come over. Some brought snacks, others brought decorations, I mean, Ezra even brought a Wii! Like, I'm confused right now, but at least there's entertainment for some-

Everyone who lived in this community came, and I mean everyone. The place was packed with people, people from school, people I see when I walk down the street- I've never seen so many people at the same place at the same time.

I watch as the party burst into action, with music and lights and snacks and entertainment all around, it made me dizzy just watching. I saw Lassi, Ezra, and Aren fighting over controllers for the Wii, and a small crowd cheering the competitors on.

Reza saw me standing in the corner of the room, and came over. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah, just a bit nervous," I respond, rubbing my arm. I was literally shaking from head to toe about introducing myself.

"It's okay, just take it slow and easy, and people will listen to you, I promise," he said in a comforting tone. I nodded, and he smiled. "Good luck!"

"Thanks," I told him as I walked closer to the snack table. I picked up a small plate and put a small cream-cake with light filling, yum! I was about to go and watch the others playing Mario Cart or something when someone accidentally bumped into me, the cream from the small cake splattered on my cheek.

"Oops, sorry! Didn't mean that," he said, wiping off the cream off my face.

"It's alright, I should be sorry too," I responded as my vision flashed with color of the room, then went back to being grey and white. Strange, that never happened before! Maybe my soulmate was somewhere in this room, yeah, that must be why!

"What's your name?" he asked, interrupting my thoughts while getting another plate and another small cake. He held it out to me.

"Mateo, what about you?" I responded, taking the offered plate with a few thanks.

He smiled while saying, "I'm Omar, I like your name! It really does suit you!"

Between bites of the cake (which, btw, was delicious), I said, "Oh, how kind of you to say that, thanks! Are you going to do something here?"

"I dunno, I'm just basically going around the room looking for something to do," he said, nodding towards the group of people playing Miitopia, I think.

"Do you want to do something together?" I suggested quickly, then clapped my mouth shut. Why did I just say that?

"Sure, I'd love to! C'mon!" he said, taking my hand down to the dance floor. Already, I felt queasy from the blinking lights and everyone.

"You know how to dance?" he questioned me, which I nodded slowly. "I'll go slow, don't worry."

He took me by the hand, and we started to dance together in sync. I don't even know how I synced perfectly with him while dancing, but it felt nice to be part of the crowd.

I can't explain what I felt during all this, but it felt wonderful, the flashing lights, the crowd cheering to the beats of the songs, everything felt great. My vision flashed once more, but this time, I could see perfectly well. I could see all these new colors that I never could've before. It was awestrucking, especially to me. I felt like it was a dream, but I pinched myself, it hurt.

"Are you my soulmate?" I asked the brunette next to me.

"I guess I am, 'soulmate,'" he joked, making me smile. I guess I should be glad that Reza held this party after all. There was nothing really to worry about.
