Why is my writing getting worse and worse everyday, I thought I improved (many many) weeks ago, but oh well-

I stood still, terrified of the gleaming eyes that stared within my soul. I felt paralyzed in place, unable to move. Was it because of fear, or the new feeling I felt at the moment, a slight heaviness in my chest, I don't know.

Let's go back a step, shall we? My name is Bailey, and I'm just your average, normal female. Well, not entirely normal at the time being. My village had been ravaged by some sort of beasts, known as shapeshifters.

Shapeshifters, as my parents told me, are dangerous and wild, tricking people and animals alike with their transforming powers. I've always been afraid of them due to the warnings my village had ordered, and I've never strayed away from the village.

To tell a normal person from a shapeshifter, you can tell if they have a mark/symbol on their wrist or cheek, or if they have a weird sparkle in their eyes. Shapeshifters can change from human to animal at will once they turn a certain age. I read all about this from the library in town.

You may be asking, well, if I'm always so careful and know all this about shapeshifters, why am I with one right now? Well, I might've gotten a bit curious to see one up in person, and now that I think of it, it was a bad decision...

I wandered away from the village into the forest nearby, which my parents warned me never to go there. But I did stupidly, and a silver-white wolf in the forest found me, cornering me into the edge of the deep woods, growling at my every move.

I tried to calmly walk backwards, hoping it wouldn't draw much more attention, and the wolf slowed down, sniffing me and looking at me with suspicion. I could see the slight gleam in its green irises and a small crimson-red mark on its wrist, proving that it was a shapeshifter in disguise.

"W-what do you want with me?" I practically screamed at the wolf, who slightly whimpered in response. I winced, feeling a bit bad, but hey, when you're in a death situation, what would you do? Wait for the monster to eat you or something? Not me.

The shapeshifter turned back into a human, a female of my age. With long black hair and sparkling green eyes, she looked a bit stunning. Her outfit was a bit matted and dirty, but I could make out that she was wearing a white shirt with cuffed jeans. She looked exactly like a normal girl if you didn't look closely. She noticed my staring, to which I slightly gasp.

"Do not tell anyone about this," she whispered into my ear. I nod quickly out of fear, and with a quick rustle in the bushes, she was gone.

I head home, not knowing what to think of the whole experience. Even though I was shaking from head to toe, I felt this new feeling that I've never felt before. I went to bed, but it took a while for me to fall asleep.

I came back to the forest the next day. I felt scared and excited at the same time. I also brought a few things, like a few snacks, just in case.
