Charlie looked out the window eagerly to find the beautiful snowy-white owl perched on the white planks. In its beak held a letter, sealed with a stamp designated for the freckled boy's eyes only.

He took the note gently from the bird, stroking its fluffy, downy feathers and earning a soft cooing from the faithful creature.

The boy opened up the letter, scanning it with great excitement. It was from his soulmate, but then again, it would always be from his soulmate. The owl was their personal soulmate messenger, though he had never actually met his soulmate in person before.

" Hi again. I hope you don't mind me writing so often. I just enjoy talking with you, Charlie. I hope we can meet up one day so I can talk to you with actual words. "

Charlie smiled. He sat down at his desk and quickly wrote a letter back to them, sealing it with a white flapped envelope. He was always enticed by these notes from the mysterious soulmate behind the letters. Wondering where they could be or what they looked like was all a big mystery. All he knew was their name, the one they used to address the signed notes.

" I like talking with you too, don't worry! I hope we can meet up someday, I'd really like to meet you, Austin. "

He stood up and walked back to the window.

"Thank you, mind sending another back?" he asked, looking over at the owl still perched on the windowsill and holding out the envelope with a few treats. A few low hoots was the response, most likely a sound of agreement as it took the treats graciously. It clasped the letter in its beak and flew off into the blue, disappearing through the whites of the cloudy sky.

Charlie watched with awed eyes, gazing up into the hues of the sky beyond the horizons.

He wished he were a bird too, free to fly wherever he wanted to go. He could follow the beautiful white owl wherever it went, and finally get to meet his soulmate for the first time. It would be a dream come true if that was how life really worked.
