To get the plot better, please read Miguel's lore. I have pasted it below. The story continues from there.

Miguel was born in Mexico and lived with his younger sister and parents. He was a wild kid, always skipping stones, or jumping in puddles. One day, his father had brought him home a gift to calm his rambunctious tactics down. The gift you say? A pair of blue and red roller skates. From then on, you'd catch Miguel zooming through the streets of his small town, waving to every vendor or tourist he saw. The wind amongst his face, the feeling of freedom running through his bones, and the smell of flowers nearby shops was everything Miguel wanted and more.

While skating really fast downhill in a neighborhood, he suddenly lost his balance, tripping and landing straight below a girl standing with a laundry basket in her hand about to hang laundry on the drying line. Ever so the charmer, Miguel immediately says a pickup line, "Whoops, guess I fell for you." The girl looked annoyed, rolled her eyes and spun around back to finish her chore. Miguel lightly tapped her on the shoulder asking for her name, to which she replied "Maribella." He finally had a glimpse of her face, and his mouth fell open. She was absolutely gorgeous, and her personality was fascinating to him.

From that day onward, Miguel would skate over to visit Maribella, and give her the best pickup line he could every day. He was determined, slowly but surely, he was going to win her heart.

[MIGUEL]

"H-hey, hey, wait up!" I called after the girl. She scoffed, but reluctantly turned my way. Yes! I mutter under my breath as I race up to catch her.

"What do you want?" she asked, her tone as cold as ice. I sheepishly smile.

"Wanna hang out together downtown? I'm pretty sure there's some exciting things there!" I suggested.

"Sure, I guess. I can meet you in a few hours? I got some shopping to do first," she said, looking down at her watch. I nodded quickly, and as she walked away, I threw a fist punch in the air. This was going better than expected!

I skate all the way back home and explain about my little "date" with Maribella. My parents looked confused but overall happy for me, and allowed me to go out with her. I changed quickly into more dressier clothing, unlike my usual wear consisting of my green sweater and jeans. I wanted to make this night count!

I met up with Mari near the bus stop, and we walked down the lit up streets of the city. It illuminated under the city street lights, and the stars shone in the night sky. Even Maribella was intrigued by this display. She didn't seem as snappish as earlier today, but still a bit on the grumpy side. That was a good start though.

I brought her to my favorite places of town, like the restaurant that I practically ate at most of the time when my family didn't cook for the night or the cool stand near the office buildings that sold cool stuff to people. I greeted everyone that I saw walking down the street or manning the stands, who waved back with a hello. It probably was old news to most, but Maribella seemed interested with all the things I was showing her. I barely heard her complain even once about this "date."

"How do you know all these places and people?" I heard her ask suddenly. She sounded quiet and shy asking it, which was a bit strange.

I brushed it off and replied, "I've lived here my entire life, of course I should know my way around!"

"Oh," she replied sadly. "I'm kind of new here, I just moved last week..."

"Wait, you moved here last week?" I ask, confused. I should have heard about this, why has nobody told me about her moving to my town?

"Yeah...," she said, looking down. "My parents got a job here, and most of my relatives lived here, so we moved. I'm not used to being here, I don't feel like I fit in with anybody." She bit her lip after finishing.

A thought popped into my head. Maybe she seemed annoyed because she didn't know anybody, and being lonely was a horrible feeling... I felt bad that she was alone, but what could I do? I'm a nuisance, that's what.

"Oh... I'm sorry for reminding you of that...," I replied, shaking my head. "I can take you home and we can forget about all this-"

"N-no, it's all okay," she said quickly.

"But-"

"Being here with somebody made me happy that I can make friends, even if I put up a show," she said, shifting her feet in a nervous kind of way. I watch her with a confused look.

"I'm real sorry for snapping at you this afternoon," she continued. "But I thank you for bringing me here and accompanying me, it made it feel like home again. It made me think of the time when I made friends with my best friend back at home."

I smile as I replied, "Now, shall we continue the tour?"

I heard her respond with a excited "yes," and we walked together down the streetlights, embracing the moment together.
