[REQUESTED]

This ship was requested by Odette_Flicker, thank you for requesting! Hope you enjoy!

Sorry, had to change the prompt, apologies! Cactus is just a bit too young, in my opinion, to date/love her, sorry! :c

I just thought of the lyrics "one call away, I'll be there to save, the day" for the title, but that can't fit, so time to shorten-

[CHILDHOOD]

(Haneen is about 12-13 and Qasim is about 11-12)

"Haneen, catch!" said the energetic black-haired boy, throwing the ball high into the air. The said girl then turned to catch the ball swiftly with a slight laugh. She knew that her younger brother loved to play outdoors, always so excited and happy whenever he got the chance. Haneen wasn't too keen on staying in the sun for too long, it made her feel a bit hot.

She did stay outside to play with Qasim for a bit and to watch over him while their parents were out shopping in the local markets. Her brother always despised having a baby-sitter (he said he could take care of himself), but he was always happy if Haneen had to watch him.

Qasim always had a dream of joining the other boys in their neighborhood in playing local sports such as soccer (in their town, it was very well known). Sadly, their parents didn't have the income to buy him a ball to practice, which he was fine with, but he always dreamt of playing soccer with everyone else.

Haneen saw this, and, using the money from sewing and creating beautiful designs of clothing, she saved enough to buy her brother a soccer ball of his own. She loved seeing her brother's face light up as he opened the box. "Thank you, thank you, Haneen!" he called, hugging her tightly, which she clearly remembered.

Ever since then, he'd been practicing every single day, and it's been one of his most prized possessions.

Haneen smiled. Her brother really was a ray of sunshine.

Just then, she could hear an "oops!" behind her. She turned to see Qasim kneeling over the brook that led through the town, and his ball was floating on the stream of water. The boy was trying to reach it with a stick, but failed.

Haneen tried as well, but to no avail. It was too far for both of their reaches, but at least it wasn't sinking or floating away. One of the boys in their town, a tanned boy with swept, black hair like Qasim, came over to watch the two reaching for the ball. Taking a long stick nearby, he pulled the ball carefully onto the bank of the river where they were standing over. Qasim let out a yelp of happiness as he (and Haneen) thanked the boy over and over.

Ever since that day, she gained a new crush on that boy that helped her brother, even if it didn't seem that great of a deal, it was in Haneen's view. Anything to help her brother was heroic.

[PRESENT]

(Qasim is about 17-18 and Haneen is about 18-19)

It was a lot more busier than it usually is now that they moved to the big city. Back at home, there wasn't much customers who would buy Haneen's clothing, but she managed to save enough to move here and rent out her own shop to sell the designs. Qasim came along, and they wished their parents their regards as they set off to start a new life or so.

Qasim was able to make many new friends here around his and Haneen's age due to his irresistible personality and cheerful attitude. Haneen also made a few close friends, but never seemed to have much crushes on anybody. The only crush she ever had was on that boy back at home, but he's not here, so...

Ding! The bell on the door rang as somebody entered her shop. Haneen turned away from the papers on the desk in front of her and smiled at the newcomer.

"Welcome!" she called with a beautifully-pitched voice, one that she had gotten from her mother. Qasim then suddenly came in from the storage-room, then slightly gasped at the customer. He looked very familiar...

"Miguel?" Qasim said, which made Haneen jump. Miguel was here? But wasn't he back at home?

"It's me, alright," the person said, taking off his jacket and hat, revealing himself to be the tanned boy, but older and more handsome than they remembered. The female at the desk was a bit in shock. She hadn't seen Miguel ever since that day that he rescued Qasim's soccer ball. Did he move here without them even knowing? Is that why their parents chose this specific city to live? Haneen's mind raced to find an answer.

"It's nice to see you both here," he trilled, walking closer to the main desk. Haneen blushed as he leaned over the desk near her, not invading her personal space or anything.

"I-it's nice to see you again after all these years," Haneen finally managed to say, to which the raven-haired smiled. Qasim also smiled, then left to the storage room to leave the two alone.

"You know, we haven't really had a chance to acquaint with one another," Miguel remarked, as he held out his hand. Haneen took it with hers as they took a nice stroll together down the beautiful city streets. It was the evening, and the moon had just arisen, making the streets light up with colorful lights and sparkles.

Qasim watched the two from the shop and smiled as he flipped the 'open' sign near the door to 'closed,' humming to himself as he rolled the small black-and-white ball home.
