[THIRD PERSON]

Years have passed ever since Miguel came back from the army, and it had been much of a happy time. Jo was greatly relieved to know that her best friend was still alive, and Miguel was happy to finally be home after all those years.

Once they reached the ages of 23 and 25, they went on their first date. It was all still very new to them, so they wanted to take it slow. They had a very fun time together that night, heading down the nightly-lit streets and the pier that connected to the moon-lit sea. The wind blowing in a slight breeze that had the familiar ocean smell.

It was the most fun they ever had in a long time, other than those childhood moments they had together before Miguel went on duty.

(I'm not good at writing weddings, sorry)

After a WHOLE year (yes, we all must be wondering why it took a year for this but it took a year), they were a real couple. They married under the billowing trees and the garden arch set perfectly in place. It was a beautiful setting, and they vowed to stay by each other's side.

Their friends and old classmates came to attend their wedding, Lara throwing her pink flower blossoms with energy everywhere, giggling when the flowers flew and landed in her friends' hair. Jordan smiled brightly at the two and clapped her hands. Jojo waved to the groom and bride, cheering with the crowd. Reza whooped, hands clasped over his mouth like a loudspeaker, with Mateo cheering next to him.

(I'm too lazy to write about everyone, sorry again ;w;)

Jo and Miguel lived together after their honeymoon and wedding, happily residing in an apartment together. Of course, they allowed their friends over on occasions to hang out, and they stayed with certain old habits (like Jo, Jordan, and Lara hanging out in the mall like in their teenage years, dragging Jojo behind, and exploring together).

Often, before their marriage, they visited and volunteered at shelters and nurseries, where the kids and the animals needed new homes and love. So, after a while of thinking, they decided to adopt a child, as they had heard about child abuse, that many of the kids there were abandoned, orphaned, etc.

"I wish all these wonderful kids would get new homes, they seem like good children...," Jo whispered as they walked down the nursery, looking at all the cute children playing quietly, painting with their fingers, or sleeping. They all looked adorable and very well-behaved.

Miguel nodded solemnly, "Yeah, I wish..."

Jo walked over to a child playing alone on a swing. They were trying to get it to move it by themselves, but it didn't seem like it was working. The brunette told the child to hold on as tight as they could, which they obeyed with a nod, tightly gripping the swing.

Jo pushed the swing gently, making sure not to make it go too high, making the kid squeal with delight as they went up and down. Miguel smiled at the two playing together and having fun.

The two played around with some of the other kids, giving them attention and love that they needed.

"So who are we going to adopt? They're all really cute and sweet...," Miguel asked, dusting himself off, due to the fact that he hung out with a kid who was playing in the mini sandbox.

Jo looked around at all the young children, then shook her head. She, too, didn't know which of the children were best for their family. They all seemed great in their own ways...

One of the volunteers stepped forward to the two, gesturing at a certain young female sitting at the crafts table, drawing a picture. She had light nougat skin with dark brown hair.

"This is Jocelyn, she came here a few days ago," the volunteer explained. "She's a bit nervous around new people, but she's a very nice girl indeed!"

Jo smiled at the child, who shyly smiled back. "May I see your drawing?"

"Okay!" the child said as she held up the picture. "This is me," she explained, pointing to the small girl in between two adults.

"Ah, so who are they?" Miguel asked, pointing to the two adults next to the child.

Jocelyn's smile faded as she explained, "I had parents, but... they disappeared... so I'm here for new ones... people who-who could take care of me..."

She started to tear up after finishing. Jo hugged the girl in sympathy. "Oh... it's okay, it's okay," she cooed, to which the little girl smiled and wrapped her arms around her neck.

The volunteer smiled brightly at the two. "She's never warmed up that quickly, she must feel a lot of trust from you two!"

Jo smiled with a shake of her head. "Oh, it's nothing, she's just a really special kid," she said, holding the girl in her arms carefully, Jocelyn squeaking happily.

"We'll adopt her," Miguel said suddenly, to which Jocelyn brightened.

"You'll be my parents?" she asked with big, bright eyes.

Jo turned to Miguel quickly, questioning, "Wait, really? Are you sure?"

"Positive. I mean, you both already bonded, and I can't stand to break the two of you apart," he replied, smiling. Jo hugged him, which Jocelyn noticed, joining the hug.

"We're a family now. That's all that matters."
