I always like to think Alex is a vampire because of some AUs, but he's not in reality, but just for the fun, I used a VAMPIRE AU for this prompt-

The blackness of the night used to be his favorite time. It was always nice to walk outside and watch the beautiful twinkling lights and the stars that shone above. All of that felt wonderful to feel and to see. Until that one dreaded night passed.

He could feel the cold breath, the chills running down his spine. The fangs that bit his shoulder, sucking up blood in seconds. He had little time to scream, it was all to protect his brother. Even though he wasn't always the kindest, he didn't deserve to be a vampire's lunch.

The vampire behind him dropped him to the ground suddenly, and left him there. Alex couldn't think straight, his head was spinning, and he felt sick. His skin stayed the same, a tan-nougat, but it felt clammy and cold to the touch. He tried to stand up with the remaining energy he had, but his legs felt weak.

Left there to die...

Please, somebody help me..., he whispered, hoping somebody would hear his cries for help. He watched people pass the alley where he was attacked, but nobody seemed to see the shivering boy.

A girl of his age skipped past the alley, but stopped when her eyes fell on the raven-haired boy. She had brilliant blue eyes that matched her pastel-colored hair, which Alex slightly admired. Her eyes flickered back and forth at his tattered clothes, slightly shredded with the vampire's claws.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly, holding her hand. Alex took her hand, and groaned slightly at the pain in his neck. His hand felt two small holes in his shoulder, and pulled it away to find dried blood.

"Yes, I'm fine," he muttered, hiding his hand and covering up his shoulder from view. The female smiled with sympathy, then asked, "Do you want to come to my house? My family won't mind me bringing a friend."

"Friend?" The word registered itself in Alex's head. We've only met for a few hours, and she's calling me a friend? I don't even know her name-

"I'll take that as a yes!" she said, pulling Alex to her house. Alex struggled slightly, but gave up, the girl's grip was a bit too strong to break though.

"Mom, dad, this is my new friend!" the pink-haired female yelled as they burst through the door. "We'll be upstairs!"

"Okay, sweetie, have fun!" her mother said, smiling as the two ran up the stairs. Well, mostly with the girl pulling Alex behind.

When they reached her room, she closed the door and smiled. "I didn't quite catch your name! May I ask what it is?"

"A-Alex...," the boy said, stuttering.

"Alex, huh? That's a cool name! It's nice to meet you, Alex! My name is Lara!" she said, holding out her hand. Alex noticed that her outstretched hand had light freckles, just like the ones visible on her face. In her other hand held small bandages, to which she placed on his bleeding spots.

"Why are you helping me?" Alex asked with a slight hiss. Lara didn't seem to bothered, still wrapping the bandages on his arms, but responded, "I thought you just needed a friend, that's all."

Alex didn't mean to sound rude, he just couldn't help hissing. He excused himself to go to the bathroom, then took a look at himself in the mirror and screamed. Well, not screaming like a maniac, but a internal scream.

The mirror showed nothing.

Wh-what? He frantically looked around to see if it was some sort of trick-mirror, like those in a carnival game. But it was just an ordinary mirror, nothing fancy.

His hand went to his mouth and he could feel a sharp prick with his finger. Fangs.

Alex felt extremely scared and worried. What will his parents say? What will anybody else say? They would think that he was some sort of monster, which he wouldn't blame them. He was a monster now.

He couldn't help it. Just in the corner of the room, curled up with his head on his knees, he started to cry like a child. Everyone probably hated him, and even if they didn't hate him before, they'll hate now.

From her room, Lara could hear soft crying from across the hallway, to which she stood up and walked. It was coming from the bathroom, so she knocked the white door. "Is everything okay in there, Alex?" she whispered softly.

Alex heard Lara's voice coming from the hall and panicked again.

No, no, no, this wasn't happening. She's going to kill me once she knows.

"Please, open the door, I want to help you," she said softly, her voice tearing up. Alex didn't know what to do. He was hurting her as well as himself.

He turned the door knob open, to which Lara burst in (like before) and hugged him in comfort. "Are you okay? Please tell me if anything is wrong," she said, running her hands through his black swept hair.

Alex turned to the mirror, and gestured, to which Lara turns to look. She saw herself alone on the bathroom floor, Alex nowhere in sight. But Alex was right here in her arms.

"Is this the reason you're upset?" she asked, her voice close to a whisper. "Are you afraid of what people will think of you?"

Alex nodded, rubbing his watery eyes. Lara smiled sadly, and said, "You're not a monster. You're my friend, and that's all that matters," while continuing to gently soothe the boy.

"Thank you...," Alex whispered, closing his eyes, "...for everything..."

Lara watched the raven-haired slept, a lulling tone of his slight snores fill the air. With a small smile, she gently takes the boy back to her room, and falls into a beautiful dreamland as well.
