Mercy POV

I sit up my head heavy I look around seeing I'm in a make shift cot, I sit up and look around I hiss at the pain and tightness. I hear someone walking around and I look up thank God the lights are off.

Old woman:Good, I thought after today I'd have to take you back to the ER.

Me:umm... Thanks but where am I?

Old woman:You don't remember me?

Me:I can barely see ma'am, not to mention my eyes are kinds tender, I'm sorry I've been in your way.

Old woman:Child, my grandsons have been in worse situations then this and besides you helped one of them, so I owe you that much.

Me:You're Malcolm's grandma?

Old woman:*chuckles*Yes but you can call me Ms. Moore.

Me:Ms. Moore thank you so much. How long have I been out?

Old woman:In and out for days, obviously signs of a concussion but no serious brain damage, makes sense seeing how you don't remember anything, do you remember what happened to you?

All I remember is running.

Me:No, but I'm assuming based off the brace on my foot and the subtle banging in my head I must've taken a hard fall.

Old woman:*soft chuckling* pretty girl, I wish that was true. But you were jumped by some weak little boys who couldn't help but attack a young woman who was minding her business. Your people have been looking for you.

I sigh and stand up completely.

Me:Thank you for not telling them where I am.

Ms. Moore:I can see a girl who needs a break from her reality. You looked bad outside of the foot prints and bruises. You've filled out even more  since I seen you, was that planned?

I lick my lips and look away and squint when I make eye contact with the light.

Me:Not really, it just jumped on me, literally. My cheer uniform was shorter and tighter, I went up a size for my drill team uniforms, I can't sleep right. My mom says it's anxiety but I don't know, I've never known anxiety to make me gain weight or make me sleep less it made me hyper but now I'm always sleepy and snappy and sensitive I swear if I've had sex I'd think I was pregnant!

She rubs my back and I wipe my eyes.

Ms. Moore:Come on let's get you some food, I know you're hungry.

I nod and I limp into the small kitchen and sit down at the table after I've washed my hands. She places a plate full of breakfast in front of me.

Ms. Moore:Don't think just eat. I'll speak.

I nod and pray over the food before start to eat.

Ms. Moore:Your body goes through phases almost every ten years until you hit menopause. When you go through puberty you have your template for your womanly body and as you age that template makes slight changes, now from the sounds of it you're a very active girl so your body is gonna look different from different angles even when you stop or start doing one thing. Your cheer uniform ain't gonna fit like it did because you've gained or loss something. As a woman your body is gonna be changing constantly no matter what you do. You may seem fatter but you aren't, stress can make you gain weight as well as lose it depends on the person.

Me:I don't get it, okay I know my body changes but what's with sudden changes.

Ms. Moore:It wasn't sudden, you just suddenly noticed.
