Thanksgiving. The time of year when friends and family gather to eat turkey, watch the big game, and give thanks for all that they have.
But for Archie, this year was all about what he'd lost. It was the first Thanksgiving without his father. The void that Fred Andrews left was as cold as the winds blowing through the town.
On the same coin but different side, Mercy wasn't going to let this Thanksgiving be like the others, her parents usually weren't around to eat and enjoy even a bowl of cereal together on the holiday, but Mercy made sure she'd be happy and thankful this time around because this year she's not hurt or in the hospital, she has enough positivity for the rest of the town to share. And it seems like we'll need it.
And while those two were thinking of ways to give back, Riverdale's new mayor was grabbing all that he could. Hiram Lodge had run unopposed, allowing him to ascend to power virtually overnight. Meanwhile across town at Riverdale General Hospital, a different family gathering was taking place.
For the Dickenson crime clan, the only dish on the Thanksgiving menu was revenge. Weather forecasters were calling for an epic ice storm, and you could literally feel the temperature dropping.
Mercy POV
Archie: All right everyone, bring it in. Come on!
Munroe:Hustle up, Hustle up!
I walk from out of the office my pen in hand as I lean in the beam near by.
Archie:All right, look. We know some of you guys have nowhere to go for Thanksgiving. So Munroe, Mercy and I, we're gonna keep the center open tomorrow.
Munroe:We're gonna have hot meals with all the fixings.
The kids cheer and Munroe walks and pulls Malcom under his arm.
Toby:Seriously? You guys are cooking?
Archie:Hell, yeah. And my mom.
Munroe:And grandma.
Anna:Mercy are you going to cook, too? Or at least make some of your cakes and cupcakes?
I smile and nod.
Me:Oh you definitely know it, girl. I already got the stuff prepped.
Archie:So, tell your friends there's an open door policy. Everyone is invited.
Everyone claps and Malcom walks up to me. I tilt my head and grin.
Me:What's up?
Malcom:What cupcakes are you making?
Munroe:Man, get your greedy ass away, I'm positive whatever she's making you're going to eat it.
He smacks his lips and I smirk.
Malcom:You sound like Grandma.
I laugh as Munroe muffs him dismissing him. He turns to me and I smile before standing on my tippy toes kissing him. He puts his hands on my waist and moves in closer. We pull away and he grins.
Munroe:You're in a good mood.
Me:I'm in a great mood.
Munroe:And the purpose of this great mood?
He spreads his legs so he's closer to my face and I wrap my arms around his neck, shrugging.
Me:I always get giddy around the holidays. And this will be the first time I've celebrated it in a couple of years.
