What makes a place feel like home?
Is it warmth and familiarity? Some idealized, make believe version of the American dream? Is it love and acceptance? Or is it simple safety? Or is it none of those things. And it's a place where the captain of the football team is murdered. Or maybe it's just a forgotten closet under a well trod stair case, where it's just you and the mice and the spiders, like an extra in a Wes craven movie.

I walk up to Archie and Jughead just as they close the old janitor closet door.

Me:Really jug?

Archie looks at me and Jughead rolls his eyes.

Archie:Wait you knew? And you didn't tell me?

I look at him and squint before holding my hand up.

Me:He's gonna make you promise not to tell just like he did me. I asked him to stay with me he didn't want to. Just like I'm sure he's telling you.

Jughead:This is temporary, I'm going to figure something out. Just don't tell anybody, especially not Betty.

Archie:Betty *scoffs* She's not gonna care.

Me:Veronica on the other hand? Maybe a little snobby attitude for a minute.

Jughead:Right, well, exactly. Don't tell her either.

Me:Don't plan on it. She's been acting weird since she got here and I'm not a big fan.

Archie:What do you mean?

We walk down the hall both boys on either side of me.

Me:I guess it's just because I'm not used to her being around constantly, we'd hang out during breaks so I never seen her with others much. But she's a real princess.

Jughead:Or maybe you're just used to being the pretty one.

Me:I'm being serious Jug!

I smack his arm and he chuckles.

Jughead:That's normal, you guys didn't hang out much and now that you do, you see the real her. It's expected.

Archie:You gotta remember she's still new too. She has to get a feel for around here.

Me:Yeah, I guess. But life must go on. Petty things aside.

I sit next to Kevin as we listen to Betty talk about her missing sister. Pregnant missing sister.

Betty:My mom and dad don't want to get the police involved. They don't want anyone to know she ran away, or about her "shameful condition".

Me:Talk about pride, but they do know that people know who polly is, if they see her on the street they'll tell your parents.

Betty:I don't think they care enough Merc.

Veronica:Please, what decade is this?

Betty:Also, since she knew where Jason's getaway car was, they're afraid people might think that she burned it and that if she did...

Jughead:She could be the murderer, trying to cover her tracks.

Me:On what reasons? She's in love with the red head and having his kid, they were gonna run away together. Why would she do that?

Betty:You know how wild my moms imagination can be.

I sigh and sit back at that, the woman does have a few screws loose.
