Weekdays, from 8:25 to 3:01 pm, we adhere to a strict regimen. Everything in our lives is controlled. But then something like the murder of Jason Blossom happens, and you realize there is no such thing as control. There is only chaos. Nevertheless, some of us strive to impose and maintain ordering what is, fundamentally, an orderless world. A fact which would very soon be confirmed in ways none of us could have foreseen.

Betty:Why didn't you tell me Jughead's birthday tomorrow?
I look at her and shrug.
Me:He doesn't make a fuss over it. His dad doesn't either, he just watches a double feature at the Bijou and me and Archie usually go with him. But now that you're his girl you can go with him.
Betty:Of course but maybe the four of us can all go, the four musketeers like before.
I grin and laugh.
Me:I am not about to be a third wheel with Archie, he'd want to spend it with you alone Bets.
Betty:Or maybe a party?
Me:God, NO!
She jumps and I laugh before shaking my head and grabbing her hand in both of mine.
Me:Jughead would hate us, not you because you're his girlfriend but he knows me and Archie know that he hates making a big deal out his special day.
Betty:Well I'm still gonna plan it. You'll help me?
I groan and throw a small tantrum and she giggles before I pitifully nod yes, she squeals and hugs me before rushing off.

Betty:Okay why did Mr. Jones tell me that Jughead never had a birthday party?
Me:Yup
Archie:Mmm-hmm
Betty:Let's have one for him! Like a low-key surprise party.
Archie:Uh, no, no.
Veronica:That's a great idea.
Betty:Merc already agreed to help.
Archie looks to me and I swallow the water in my mouth before shrugging.
Me:She was determined!
Archie:You know he hates them!
Me:*Whining* Yes I do but he has a girlfriend now and he's gonna have to deal with it because she wants to do something special for him.
Archie:Is that really your excuse for this right now?
I widen my eyes and shrug, what do you want me to say?!
Me:What?
Archie:Jughead doesn't like his birthday.
Kevin:Everyone says that but no one means it.
Me:Jughead is a lone wolf.
Archie:Literally.
Veronica:Okay ignoring the negativity. Betty you know me, any excuse to wear a cute party dress.
Betty:Yeah.
Oh my God she's just cheesing about this.
Veronica:Okay, so I'm thinking a quaint gathering, inner circle only.
