It's been a quiet few months in Riverdale. Spring slid into summer, and some semblance of normal resumed. The terrors of the Farm weren't forgotten, but they had started to fade. Gryphons and Gargoyles was already becoming the stuff of suburban legend.
Indeed the big topic of conversation around town was July 4th. After some debate, it was decided that there would be an independence Day parade down main Street, Riverdale's first in three years. But there would be no fireworks display over Sweet Water River. The Blossoms used to sponsor them, and without their support the town couldn't afford them. Mercy Johnson wanted her parents to, but they turned her down millions of times, I guess they didn't want to do much for a town that has killed her daughter four times.
Like I said, things have been pretty quiet lately. Quiet enough that I got some real writing done.
Mercy POV
I yank up the shameful man I was laying on.
Me:What do you mean you hate fireworks?!
He follows and he frowns softly his smile gracing his lips.
Munroe:I don't see the point in them.
Me:They're loud! And pretty! And a reason to kiss your significant other without others freaking out about how much PDA you're showing. How can you hate them! Ugh, I'm going to die of a broken heart, I really thought we could end game.
I fall back and he laughs.
Munroe:They are loud and uncalled for and who cares about PDA? As long as you aren't having sex in public. But what was that last piece?
Before I can speak, a shriek rips from my mouth as I feel his fingers run up my sides, I try to wiggle from his hands.
I hear my phone ringing and I pray he'll stop.
Munroe:You're lucky.
I exhale and let out a playful sob as I roll off the bed and stay there as I try to catch my breath.
Munroe:It's Archie.
Me:Answer it, asshole.
Munroe:uh huh, Keep talking, smart ass.
I pop my head up in shock before I listen to him talk to Archie as he speaks. His abs defining as he exhales I bit my lip, he looks over to me and chuckles.
Munroe:She'll be there in a minute bro.
He hangs up and tosses my phone on the bed, he stands up and stretches, this is a fine human being.
Munroe:Come on you promised to help Archie and Veronica with the float.
I lay my cheek on the bed and shake my head as much as I can.
Me:No, I said I'd watch. I'm not good with heat.
Munroe:Mercy.
Me:Don't care, it's hot.
He shrugs and starts for the bathroom.
Munroe:Then I guess I'm showering by myself then.
I lift my head up.
Me:That wasn't mentioned!
Munroe:Too bad.
I jump up and walk into the bathroom seeing he has that shit eating grin on his face and I mug him.
Me:You're lucky you're cute.
