"Do you really have to go?" An icky whine rang from Felix as the girl before him packed her things, all set to leave.
"I was only here to be tutored, which was barely even done," she sighs and slaps her forehead. "Besides it's getting way too late for my stay."
It was visible from the corner of Hailee's eye, how frustrated the boy looked; standing there fidgeting his fingers as he attempted to find ways to make the girl stay a bit longer.
Who knows why, but today felt like heaven for Felix. How much he had longed to hear Hailee's soothing laugh that could help flowers blossom and end the brutal winter. The way in which her eyes were spotted with specks of stars glittering in them whenever she won a competition. The childish behavior she inhabits just to save her pride. Felix observed it all today.
Her presence made his day gleam. The girl swept away the loneliness Felix always seemed to be trapped in.
But the thought of all this joy ending terrified him; Felix's wish was for it to last as long as it could, forever even.
"Before you leave," he started. "How about a game of hide and seek?"
The already packed girl looked his way and raised a brow, "Another game?" she questioned.
"Don't tell me you haven't wondered what it's like to play hide and seek in a mansion at least once.
"I don't fantasize about living in a prestigious house, so no."
Felix was a bit bewildered, but the curiosity was killing him. "Why not? Doesn't everyone wish to be rich?"
"I just go with the flow, be in spaces I'm comfortable with. Do you love being rich?"
"Well this just got deep, but what do you say?" he asks hopefully.
"You know what, fine but only one game, Felix. I really have to head home soon."
With a nod, the two decided that Felix would be the first to count while Hailee goes to hide.
The only problem was how insanely enormous his house was. In a matter of seconds, Hailee had lost herself in the maze of this mansion.
"I was kidding. It would be a shame not to play hide and seek in this gigantic house of yours." she mutters.
Hailee's pov
I was convinced there was no other exit in this house. Every corner I turned to only led to another collision of rooms. Was Felix not an only child? There were undoubtedly too many rooms for probably just a family of three.
"18...19..."
His counting only got louder and my time was depleting. I can't really say I had to be smart about where to hide since the rooms in this house were countless, so I slipped into a random room in a familiar hallway.
Elegance could not even begin to define the surrounding I was entrapped in, but when I heard Felix's footsteps I ran to a corner to hide.
It had been a few minutes after hearing a bunch of "Hailee! Come out, come out wherever you areeee" and "You're in here—oh."
