Holidays.

What an enticing time of the year. Joyous spirit soaring around, Christmas movies on replay and the aspect of spending time with family. Only one of those three things applied in my stance; Christmas movies, the perfect way to spend the long break school deservingly gives.

Or so I believed.

"Have I finally gone crazy?" I ask as I stare back at the stranger in the mirror.

I could not believe how easily swayed I was to give up the comfort of my home to attend a loud, and probably reckless party.

Perhaps I could credit Ivy for the partial inspiration of getting the fuck out of my comfort zone, but I owe all the pleasure to Felix.

Flashback to last Friday:

"Felix, I told you I'm not going."

"But why not? They like you already! You even passed Minho's vibe check, and that actually says a lot."

"I'm sure it does," I rolled my eyes as I placed my books back in my locker.

"Didn't you say that you found them to be interesting people as well?" his voice rhymed behind me.

"Finding someone interesting does not necessarily mean I'll risk my time partying. Besides I have family coming over."

"Hailee, you're not very good at lying."

Damn it, I was see through.

"And it's only us, so you don't have to worry."

I didn't reply, I just kept stashing books in.
What was I to say? Part of me actually felt delighted that I was invited to a party not only because the invite was from a group everyone seems to fawn over, but because someone actually found interest in letting me come over.
I was ecstatic to be honest.

But the other part of me didn't want to detach myself and dive into a new crowd. Not to mention, how would I even get past my mother?

Felix's deep voice shakes me out of my thoughts.
"Ya know, you never gave me my mittens back." I had been wondering when he'd finally recall.

"If you wanted them, you could have said so all this time."

"Okay, I want them back. Give it to me when you next see me, which is next Saturday."

"I'm not even going." I sighed.

"Yeah you are! My mom hand knitted them herself, so you better show up and give them back."

Was this his charm? No scratch that, this was no charm, this was more so a trap. It didn't help that I felt indebted to him anyway, so now I was obligated to look for presents for everyone.

"You don't have to go shopping for everyone," he answers.

Was he able to read my mind? My worst fear as a child.

"You're probably wondering if I can read your mind now," he chuckles.

My eyes widen and when I finally move my mouth to speak, he interrupts, "Well I can't, but really you only need to buy something for just one person. Gifts are given at random."

And so of course, Felix had accompanied me while I ventured for a gift, since he had to as well.

After searching in a ridiculous amount of stores, I managed to buy a scented candle. What could go wrong with that?
