"You know honestly, that was well deserved." Hailee spat, setting an ice pack on Felix's cheek. The wounded boy groaned at the frosty sensation, sighing in defeat.
"What are you on about, I don't recall a thing I did wrong." He turned to her, lucid eyes casting a confused look down her soul.
The two sat down in the mall's medic center that was thankfully not too far off of where they had been prior. The agonizing odor of alcohol that reminded one of the moment right before taking an injection at the doctor's office, as well as the merging scent of strong ointment completely obliterated their nostrils.
"You literally spilled your milkshake on her, Felix. If that happened to me, I would want to whack your head off as well." Hailee sighs, dabbing the ice pack steadily on his injured area as he flinched every now and then from the cold pricks.
"I was just protecting you," he crossed his arms, "I wouldn't want anything bad happening to my...friend," he gulps, drooping his head below with a scowl.
"What is there to protect me from? She simply complimented my obviously attractive appearance, I don't blame her."
"Neither do I — I mean, I mean I do," he coughs, "The audacity she had to disrupt us, ruining our date." Felix mumbled.
Hailee silently laughed at his silly manners. Who knew someone could be so provoked over something so impeccably small? It really wasn't that deep, but the incident seemed to bother Felix intensely.
"Not gonna lie, she was pretty hot," Hailee crooned bluntly, recalling the exploits of the random stranger earlier, and earning a glare from Felix. "Why were you so adamant on her shooting her shot anyway? It's my business, you didn't need to interfere."
He sighs and looks away, "Maybe because I didn't want to lose my...friend to someone else." he muttered, hesitating oddly at the word 'friend' for the second time now. He didn't even want to roll the word off his tongue; it felt illegal to the hidden confrontation etched within.
"So you wasted a perfectly good milkshake for that," she began to laugh, this time loudly, at the boy's foolishness. A stinging sensation of golden, sunny rays that you'd find in summer, set aflame on Hailee's skin.
Felix then joined in with an immediate smile at the sound; the soft and dulcet giggles reciting in his head as a swarm of butterflies fluttered in his stomach. It was rare to find her laugh like this, so liberatingly and genuinely. Half the time, Hailee looked like she could swing a bat at someone twenty times with no mercy, mostly during French.
Yet, Felix stared at her mesmerizingly, soaking up the sweet rhythm the girl keeps concealed. Her laugh made her seem so approachable, nothing like what people gossiped about, nothing like what she had people believe. It only made Felix yearn to know what else she had to hide.
