"Dad?" My eyes feel like they could rip out of my sockets as I stood there, paralyzed. Suddenly the whole area spun like I was in a drunk daze. The lights were blurred, and the sounds that invaded the building seemed to drain out. The only thing I could make out clearly, was him.

It really was him in the flesh. The same lanky body, he never changed his hair that was now turning grey, the same softness in his tone. It forced back so many flashbacks and in the moment, I was an 8 year old again.

"Baam! Another serving made by yours truly," Dad bowed as mom chuckled next to him, grabbing another mug of coffee.

I sat there smiling as dad fed a bite of the waffles he had just made to mom, the two laughing and flirting in between as I looked away in disgust. Get a room.

"How are they, Haester?" He turned to me, friendly eyes searching for my opinion.

I frowned looking down, playing with my fork, "It's, it's..." and he too had dropped his smile.

"It's amazing!" I cheered with a thumbs up to find him tackling me in a hug.
"Rusted iron, but I still got it. They don't call me the Waffle Master for nothing." he boasts, looking towards the nearly faded waffle machine.

"Hailee. Hailee!" another clouded voice shakes me out of the moment and I look up to Felix only inches away from me, frowning at my teary eyes.

How does he always manage to find me in moments like this?

"Mr. Choi is your dad?" he looks at me with his mouth agape, completely stunned. Choi.
He had confirmed that it was indeed, really him.

I would answer his simple question if only I could find a way to say something, but it seems my tongue was in a knot and I could neither believe the situation I was in nor decipher what exactly was going on. It was just too much at the scene.

Without even uttering a word, Felix pulls me out of the premises, away from the furniture store as my eyes were glued on the older figure.

They broadened as soon as his eyes caught mine, dropping whatever stacks of paper was in his hands, as he looked back at me being dragged away. The last thing I could see of him was his mouth hanging open as he froze in his stance.

He had recognized me.

Wiping the pathetic dews away, as we exited the mall, I asked sniffling, "Where, where are we going?"

Felix stops and turns towards me, letting go of my hand and cupping my cheeks, he wiped the teary stains with his thumbs with frown. "Let's go finish our date. Come on, I'll take you to my favorite place."

"This really isn't necessary Felix," I say, trying my best to walk cautiously without tripping as Felix guides me, blindfolding my eyes.
