I went upstairs to go and check for Veronica. Today, we are coming with Kenny in his hometown. Can't say it was a bad idea, but maybe we need a little break from everything. Blythe has been gone since the morning I woke up. I've tried to find her inside the house but no tracks of her. Only I knew that her car was not on the garahe. So, she was probably going to see someone without us, again. And despite she's here, she won't be able to come with us. I have no idea what mission she is going to do. Like what Vee would do, they will disclosed any information about Blythe's mission.

For weeks, my mind had been a non-stop spiral of worst-case scenarios. Blythe was gone, vanished into thin air without a word, leaving the rest of us behind to sweat in the dark. Every single day she was missing in action. The threat of the Incorporated hovered over our necks like a blade. Going off-grid without authorization was practically a death sentence in our line of work. And if the Assassination Incorporated figured out one of our own was rogue. They wouldn't just erase her. They'd scrub the whole codemate unit to cover their tracks. I spent every night waiting for the heavy footsteps in the hallway, waiting for the door to be kicked off its hinges.

And then she just walked back in.

No alarms, no tactical teams on her heels, no blood on her collar. Nothing. She stood there as if she'd just stepped out to grab coffee. Completely untouched by the hellish paranoia that had been chewing me alive for nearly a month. Looking at her now, a toxic mix of pure relief and white-hot anger boiled in my chest. She was safe, but the terrifying silence surrounding her return only made me dread what kind of collateral damage was waiting for us in the shadows.

I knocked twice before I set the code of Veronica's digital door. And when I opened it, I saw her looked over her shoulder to look at me while she's standing infront of the huge mirror.

"Are you done?" walang emosyon kong tanong.

Tinalikuran lang niya ako at humarap ulit sa salamin, "Yeah! I'm just chosing what shade should I wear."

Humakbang ako papasok sa silid niya. At nakapamulsa siyang pinanuod habang pumipili ng shade.

"What do you think should I wear, and best suites me?" maarteng sambit niya.

"I don't have your taste in fashion, AI46." kalmadong anas ko at hinanap ang mga bagahe niya.

"Buti alam mo."

"I always knew..."

At narinig ko ang mahinang paglagutok ng dila niya. Sobrang hina lang iyon pero naririnig ko pa din kahit abala ako sa pagchi-check ng mga bagahe.

"Where's AI54?" biglang tanong niya.

Tumingin ako sa kanya, "Probably, out to take him away..."

"You mean, sending him off?"

"Maybe?" Sabay buhat nang malaking itim nitong bag. "We know we don't know anything about what they were doing when they were together. So, why bothering yourself?"

"Because she's Maureen Blythe Xavier..."

"And she's AI54..."

"With unknown rank?" mataray niyang pagtataka. "Why is that? The Assassination Incorporated has precisely three ranks for all assassin's they've trained. But when it comes to that woman, why doesn't she has any of those?"

"I think Orion and the Pillars may know that answers."

Napasmirk siya, "As if they will answer me."
