Gist: Jay takes Hailey to her first hockey game.
The end of shift quickly crept up on the team, after a hectic day of finishing off solving a three day straight case. Everyone was tired and falling asleep in their chairs, whilst finishing up on yheir reports and throwing on their coats; though non of them were quite ready to spend the evening alone without chill time with each other.
"Hey" Jay called after Hailey, following her down the stairs of the bullpen. "Hey, you good?" Hailey stopped in her tracks and turned to face Jay, who quickly caught up with her. "You fancy a hockey game? I've got a spare ticket if you want it" Jay offered up, waving the ticket infront of the blond. "Sure, sounds fun" Hailey smiled. Her and Jay talked about the last game they watched on TV together, whilst walking out to Jay's truck.
When Hailey and Jay entered the arena, they were bombarded with a mixture of heavy noises. From people yelling over each other to be heard, to the noise of baskets banging in food bars. "This is so loud" Hailey yelled, scrunching up her face in reaction. "Just the usual" Jay commented, unaware that this was Hailey's first time at a hockey game. "Yeh? I think I might stick to the sofa then after this time" Hailey chuckled, whilst they weaved in and out of people on the large stair case. "Don't you think this is way better though? Watching it right infront of you" Jay said, finding his and Hailey's seats on the front row and right next to stairs. "It is aswell when it's on TV" Hailey argued, finding the noise hard to cope with. "You're a goof" Jay laughed. "I'm just saying. This is so loud, I don't know why people bigged it up" Hailey defended herself.
"Wait, are you saying this is your first time at a game?"
"Yup, never been to one before" Hailey confirmed, her cheeks blushing with embarssment. "Oh man, no wonder the noise is getting to you. Look on the brightside though, you're first game is gifted by me" Jay smirked cockly, earning an eye roll from Hailey. "I wouldn't say that's the bright side" Hailey joked, jumping at the sound of the sudden booming music that began to play; as the hockey players skated out. "I'm offended" Jay ghapsed, throwing in one last comment before all focus was on the game.
Even though she hadn't taken to the whole thing to begin with, as the game went on Hailey began to enjoy the thrill of it more and more. Anxious adrenaline pumped through her body, she sat on the edge of her seat and watched intenally when the Hawks got close to shooting. Jay laughed at his partner, finding it amusing how much she'd gone from hating it to almost loving it in only an hour. "Awww, crap!" Both detectives hissed in unison, because the Hawks missed a shot by a mile. "Nobody was in their way, how'd they miss?" Jay sighed in frustration. "I don't even think God knows that one" Hailey answered, sitting back in her chair.
"Hold up, why are they leaving the ice?" Hailey sounded panicked, staring at the players leaving the ice rink. "Because it's half time" Jay replied, a smirk dressing his face. "Hu? The game has only just started" Hailey said, unaware of how long they'd been there. "It's been an hour, Hails" Jay chuckled. "That didn't feel like an hour" Hailey raised her brow in disbelief. "Yeh, well, you were pretty focused" Jay said, his eyes suddenly widening when he saw the two of them on the kiss cam. "What?" Hailey furrowed her brows, confused to why Jay suddenly went pale.
"THIS COUPLE SEEM TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE. COME ON, JUST KISS HER" A voice over the monitor encouraged, bringing Hailey the realisation of why Jay looked like Casper.
"If you want" Hailey muttered, a new kind of glistening sparkling in her eyes. Jay was shocked by Hailey's comment, but he wasn't going to turn down the chance. He'd wanted to kiss his partner and bestfriend for a long time, no way was he going to turn down the chance when it was in his hands ready. Closing the gap, Jay pressed his lips against Hailey's and an onslaught of whislts; claps; and howls echoed in the arena. Neither of them wanted to pull away, it felt so perfect and right, however they had to because of where they were. They both giggled when the commentator made a remark about them, after he picked up that is was their first kiss after a while of dancing around. "Bright side?" Jay questioned, his eyebrow kinked. "Yeh" Hailey beamed shyly, her bottom lip curled up on itself under her teeth. "I hoped so" Jay smiled, steeling one last glance of Hailey before the team came flying out again.
He wasn't focused on the game anymore, nor was Hailey for that matter. All they could think about was the kiss. The way both their stomachs flipped with exited nervousness, as Jay delicately captured Hailey's lips in his for the very first time. A feeling of exitment neither had felt ever.
