A Love So Strong

A/N: So, I was reading this amazing fanfic and Hailey and Jay called each other "My lobster", quoting Phoebe Buffay. And, I just had this idea afterwards whilst messaging a friend, so here we are. Here's the idea. It's a twist on 8x3 and combining it with Ross and Rachel's "I got off the plane" moment..
But obviously in a very upstead way. Anyway, enough of my rabbiting on. Hope yall enjoy it😀.

The two detectives made their way into the airport, having one of their very last face-to-face conversations for a very long time. After a very difficult conversation Hailey had with Jay about her job offer in New York, and Jay assuring her it's an offer of a life time and she should take it, Hailey agreed to take it. She wasn't totally sold, but part of her knew Jay was right....

He always knew what was right for her.

"I guess this is it" Jay breathed out, sadness creeping through.

"Yeh. I can't believe I'm actually going to work for the FBI" Hailey shook her head in pure disbelief, the full realness of the situation just hitting her fully.

Leaving her apartment, her job at the twenty first district wasn't the hard part, leaving HOME was the hard part: Jay.

"Nor can I, but you're going to absolutely kill it, Hails" Jay beamed proudly, however, the sparkle didn't quite reach his gloomy eyes.

"Yeh, maybe. I'm going to miss you the most" Hailey said, making the conversation slightly heavier.

"Yeh, I'm gonna miss you, too" Jay retorted, inhaling deeply. He wanted to spill everything right there and then. Tell her how she saved his life, how he was a better person and cop because of her, how she made is day brighter and made him feel so safe no matter what,

How he loved her with everything he had;

But that wouldn't have been fair on either of them if he did that. Hailey would be in New York completely in love with Jay and Jay would be in Chicago completely in love with Hailey. Both living separate lives and unable to fully move on, because they'd always know they love each other and wouldn't be able to find another love.

"I...I better get going. It's chocca-block" Hailey lightly chuckled, gazing into Jay's emerald eyes one last time.

"Yeh" Jay agreed, unable to peel his eyes away from the beautiful ocean ones just below him.

They embraced each other all of a sudden in a suffocating hug; a cling for dear life on each other. Hailey savoured the feeling of Jay's safe arms wrapped right around her, Jay savoured the feeling off wrapping his safe arms around Hailey; feeling like the strongest man on Earth with Hailey between his arms. The luckiest man infact.

"Bye, Partner" Hailey smiled, sniffling slightly as she pulled away.

"Bye, Hails

You know where I am if you ever change your mind" Jay winked, a peace of him selfishly hoping she did change her mind and run back to him.

Hailey didn't know what in the World came over her in that moment, but a few seconds later she found herself throwing herself forward and attaching her lips against Jay's. It was soft, gentle, and after a second of shock, Jay kissed back. Warmth flooding through his body. Their lips worked gently and passionately against each others, in perfect sync just like they were in every other aspect of their lives. After almost a minute of exploring each others mouths and pouring all their feelings into the kiss, Hailey pulled away. She didn't want too, but she had too.
