Summary: Hailey and Jay are getting married in only a few months, but Hailey realises she hasn't got anybody to walk down the Isle with her.
"Hey, Hails" Jay called from the living room floor, looking through their wedding binder.
"Yah" Hailey called back, heading over to Jay and sitting next to him.
"Who's walking you down the Isle. That note dot is the only empty one" Jay said. Hailey's heart sank, if she had a normal family, that dot would the the first one filled out and the easiest on to fill out. But she didn't have a normal family, and she didn't have her Dad to walk her down the Isle. "I...I don't have anyone" Hailey sighed, rubbing her fourhead frustratedly. "Hey, it's okay. Not having someone isn't going to ruin the day" Jay calmly assured Hailey, rubbing his hand up and down her back. "I want someone too though. I...I just don't have anyone. It's not like I'm gonna go ask my Dad, we both hate the guts out of each other" Hailey replied, her voice cracking with emotions. "Who's like a parent to you these days? Really took you under their wing. Maybe someone who did years ago" Jay suggested. "Honestly, I have nobody other than the unit" Hailey admitted, swiping away a fallen stray tear. "Come here, Hails" Jay sighed sympathetically, pulling Hailey into his side and wrapping his arms around her protectively. His heart broke for Hailey. She was amazing, funny, kind and so caring, yet she was one of the most lost people he'd ever met; and that was what broke Jay's heart more than anything.
"You became a cop because of Platt, right?" Jay checked, having a slight light bulb moment. "Yah" Hailey confirmed in a questioning tone, tipping her head up to look at Jay. "Why don't you ask her. You said she saved your life aswell. And, believe it or not, I'm pretty sure she sees you as a daughter" Jay chuckled lightly, earning a light one back off Hailey. "You think she would?" Hailey asked, pondering on the idea of asking Platt. At the end of the day, Platt was technically the reason she met Jay. "Absolutely" Jay squeezed the side of her arm, a big smile across his face. "I'll ask her tomorrow" Hailey nodded, a pinch of hope and happiness flourishing through her. "I can't believe we're actually getting married" Hailey grinned, shaking her head in pure disbelief.
Both her and Jay had images in their heads of what their dream life and dream partner would look like, they both had since they were little. However, neither of them expected to get their dream partner; never mind one that exceeded their dreams by miles. Hailey knew Jay better than she knew the back of her own hand, and Jay knew Hailey better than the back of his own hand. They knew how to cheer each other up, they knew what the other was thinking and feeling with just a look, and they laughed at each others dreadful jokes like they were the funniest jokes ever. It was completely beyond perfect.
"Nor can I" Jay agreed, his heart beating an extra few beats with exitment. "I mean, spending the rest of our lives together. Seeing each other with grey hair" Hailey laughed. "I think I'd look rather hot with grey hair" Jay joked, running his hands through his hair to make a point. "Oh, I don't doubt that" Hailey said, her voice deep and husky, before straddling Jay and kissing him. The light kiss quickly turned passionate.

The next day, Hailey strutted up the steps to a local cafe; a cafe that Hailey knew Platt was a regular at and loved. If Hailey was going to ask Platt the terrifying question, she had to butter her up first.
Entering the cafe, she took a brief skim at the chaos happening in the room, before clocking eyes on her Sergent in a quieter corner at the back of the room.
"Hey, Serge" Hailey greeted cherpily, taking a seat in the booth chair opposite Platt. "Hey, what's up. It's not often I'm asked out to bruch" Platt remarked, nursing a cup of steaming coffee. "How about I buy us both some food first" Hailey suggested, needing an extra few minutes to properly collect herself. "I know you're buttering me up, but since you're offering, I'll have the bagels" Platt said, infact, almost- just almost- smiled genuinely. "Okay" Hailey smiled, waving for service.
After small talk and contently eating their brunch, Hailey was forced to spit out the elephant in the room. "Okay, okay" Hailey said, taking a deep breath. "I have nobody to walk me down the Isle" Hailey started, giving Platt a small hint and hoping Platt wouldn't need to be literally asked the question. "And that's my problem why?" Platt asked, taking a sip of coffee. "Look, I would never have met Jay if it wasn't for you. You know I came a cop because my Dad's shop got robbed. You made me feel safe, really safe, and I wanted to make someone else feel really safe. I wanted to be like you when I grew up. If I hadn't have met you, I wouldn't have became a cop and I wouldn't have met Jay" Hailey sweetly rambled, secretly tugging on her grumpy Sargent's heart strings.
"Will you walk me down the Isle?" Hailey finally spat out, it hitting her like a ton of bricks.
With a small, genuine smile, Platt nodded her head. "I'd be honoured, Hailey"
"Really?" Hailey checked, not expecting Platt to be so.....sweet and happy?
"Yeh. Believe it or not, I've always had a soft spot for you. Just- just don't tell anyone else that" Platt winked, making Hailey giggle a little. "Secret is safe with me" Hailey promised, exitment and happiness coursing through her veins. Her Father may have left a huge whole in her heart, but it just filled mostly in that moment.
