Hailey's Father turns up unexpectedly at Hailey's apartment a few days after he's discharged from the hospital- pre 8x4- and causes a scene infront of Jay. OneChicagoHolly, here is your warning😂
After a pretty rough few nights of Hailey tossing, turning and having constant nightmares about her childhood, Jay awoke by his natural alarm clock- not Hailey kicking him and screaming for her life. He looked below him, Hailey was wrapped up under his arm and against his chest, completely peaceful looking. Jay's heart ached in a good way at how adorably peaceful Hailey looked, over the moon that she'd gotten a full night sleep. It had only been two weeks since the night they both took the huge leap, but to both Jay and Hailey it felt like they'd been doing the next level of their thing for forever. He pressed a kiss to her fourhead gently, before carefully rolling out of bed and into the kitchen to make coffee for them both.
Sturing slowly, Hailey immediately felt the luke warm, empty mattress next to her. Opening her eyes, she couldn't see Jay anyway. His clothes were still on the bedroom floor with hers, however, when the scent of coffee hit her suddenly, a massive smile spread across her sleepy face. Eager to see Jay, Hailey threw on his t-shirt and a pair of underwear, before heading into the living area.
Hailey was met with the sight of shirtless Jay looking very domestic making breakfast in her kitchen for them both. Her heart swelled at the sight infront of her, at how much Jay cared about her to do the little things like breakfast and coffee. "Morning" Hailey mumbled cherpily, catching Jay's attention right away. "Hey. You looked so peaceful, I didn't wanna wake you" Jay smiled, kissing her lovingly on the fourhead- a gesture that had quickly became Hailey's favourite thing. "I was" Hailey nodded, jumping up onto the counter top. "How you doing this morning?" Jay questioned, both of them knowing it wasn't just a simple question. "I slept so good last night. Should make a difference" Hailey shyly replied, keeping her focus on her swinging feet. "I could tell. I'm glad you're doing good" Jay said, something about his soft tone that sent warmth right through Hailey. "Yeh" Hailey breathed out, looking him in the eye for just a few seconds.
"Anyway, what in the world are you cooking?" Hailey chuckled, inspecting the interesting concoction of ingredients in the numerous pans infront of Jay. "Some kinda fancy French toast thingy" Jay mumbled, scratching the back of his neck; because, quite frankly, Jay didn't really know what he was cooking either. "Hu, following something off Google?" Hailey smirked, peering across the counter to sneak a glance at Jay's phone. "Yah. You deserve something different" Jay winked, tossing some random ingredients into a frying pan. "What did I do to deserve you" Hailey grinned, clutching his chin and turning him to face her properly for a proper kiss. "Not move to New York, because, really, I'm not sure what I would have done if you went" Jay stated, really not sure what he would have done if Hailey took the job. Ofcourse he would have been over the moon that the woman he was head over heels for got an amazing job, but, at the same time, he also would have cried for ages at not having his World next to him every day. "Well, someone has to keep you from getting shot" Hailey fired back. "Yeh, yeh" Jay rolled his eyes, sticking his tongue out playfully at Hailey. "Jay..." Hailey was cut off by a drumming noise at the door- one that sounded eager and agitated. "Let me get it" Jay instructed, seeing Hailey tense up. "Okay" Hailey nodded, grateful for Jay being there.
"Can I help?" Jay enquired, opening up the door to see a tall, old man on the other side.
"Where's Hailey?"
Hailey's stomach flipped, her heart skipped several beats and her breath increased to an uncomfortable pace, hearing her worst nightmares voice.
"In here. Who are you?" Jay asked, not letting the man in until he knew who was asking for Hailey.
"Her Father" The man answered. Jay's blood ran cold and his fists clenched together so hard- it took all his self-control to not take the guy out right there and then. "Nah, you're not coming in" Jay shook his head, closing the door on the old guy. "You've got no right stopping me see my daughter" Hailey's dad snarled, attempting to square up to Jay.
"Like Hell he does"
Jay whipped his head around at the bitter sound of Hailey's voice from behind. She stood square on, her eyes dark and threatening....yet she still looked so vulnerable and small in Jay's eyes.
"Haileybobs" Father smiled all merrily, shoving past Jay and into the apartment.
"You're not my Dad, Geoff. I don't want to see you. I don't care if you almost died, it doesn't change anything" Hailey spat, standing firm in her place. "Come on. What happened happened years ago. Can't you get over yourself?" Geoff said, completely in cloud cookoo-land. "Oh I try so hard. Every damn day I try to forget what you done to me, mum, the boys. I wish I could more than anything, yet it still haunts me to this day" Hailey choaked, trying so hard to keep her emotions at bay. "Oh please, stop being so dramatic" Geoff huffed.
"Alright, that's it. Get out of here" Jay's voice was raised, but not close to a yell, he knew it how much it scared Hailey. "I don't know who you are, but, like I said before, it's non of your business" Geoff glared. "He's my partner. And it is his business" Hailey shouted, walking over to stand next to Jay. Partially to prove a point, and partially because she was scared and needed to be close to Jay. "So you still can't look after yourself?" Geoff snarked, looking over to Jay and her in complete discust. "Oh, she's perfectly capable of looking after herself" Jay chuckled, subtly placing his hand on her back for assurance. "Please, get out. I'm glad you're okay, but get out. I don't need this. You" Hailey pleaded, desperate to be away from her Father- away from her nightmares. "I just want to make things right with my little girl" His words sent shivers up Hailey's spine, the memories of the moments he called her his little girl flashing through her mind. "Hey, I won't tell you again. Do us all a favour and get out" Jay said, miracuously calm and authoritivly. "You really want that, Haileybobs?" Geoff asked, deliberately pressing the Blond's buttons. "Mmhmm" Was all Hailey could get out, fear coursing through her. "Hu, I'll be in touch later" Geoff stared at Jay directly in the eye, almost like it was a challenge. "Careful the door doesn't hit you're big ego bubble on your way out" Jay shouted, just having to have the last word.
Once the door was closed, Jay stepped infront of Hailey and enveloped her in his arms. She shook against him, the adrenaline sprinting through her veins at a million miles an hour. "I've got you. I won't let him hurt you anymore" Jay shushed, carding his hands soothingly through her locks. Hailey didn't seem to believe him, as she continued to cry in his arms and cling on to him for dear life. She feared if she let go of Jay, her Dad would come storming back in and nothing would be able to stop him from getting to her. "Hails, you're safe. I promise" Jay whispered down to her, kissing the top of Hailey's head. "I can't go through it again. I can't, Jay. Please" Hailey begged desperately, but not entirely sure what exactly she was wanting Jay to do precisely. "You're not gonna have too. Not if I have anything to do with it" Jay promised, tears burning his eyes. Hailey was the strongest person he knew without a shadow of a doubt, and seeing her so scared and terrified and vulnerable, secretly terrified him aswell. "I need you, Jay. You don't scare me" Hailey sobbed, breaking Jay's heart with her words. "I'll never scare you, Hails. I'll always try to make you feel so safe"
A/N: So, apparently when I'm stressed on exam results night is when I manage to write a story I'm actually kinda proud of lol. I honestly cried writing this, so I'm sorry for any tears that occurred lol. Although, if you do cry, that's a job done in the nicest possible way😂. Please vote and comment, it all helps me so much and I appreciate it so much!❤
(Found out the next day I passed🥳)
