After one year of marriage and two years of trying for a baby and unfortunately failing, Hailey made an oppiontment at Med with a OBYN to see why it was so hard. She hadn't told Jay though, she didn't think it was necessary for him to know unless there was something seriously wrong. Even though Hailey didn't want Jay with her at the appointment because she knew he'd worry mindlessly, all she wanted was for Jay to be there holding her hand; telling her it's all going to be fine. Deep down in her gut, Hailey knew something wasn't right though. All Jay wanted was children, and so did she, she couldn't imagen having to break it to her bestfriend; partner; husband; and soul mate that she couldn't give him the child he wants and so deserves.
Being pulled out her emotional thoughts when her name is called, Hailey shakes her head and follows the friendly looking doctor into her office.

It was light, cozy yet professional room- a room that made everything seem a little less scary. The doctor sat down in her chair, signalling for Hailey to sit in the chair on the other side of the next- which she did very nervously. "Morning, Miss Upton, my name's Doctor Barker, I'm going to be trying to help you solve what's bothering you" Doctor Barker formally introduced herself, a friendly smile across her face. "Please, call me Hailey" Hailey smiled back, not up for all the formality. "Okay, will do. So explain a little more what's going on, please" Barker said, picking up her pen incase notes needed to be taken. "Ugh, well, my husband and I have been trying for a baby for two years now. I know it's not so easy for some people, but, I don't know, something just feels not right in my gut" Hailey explained, instinctively holding her hand over her stomach. "You're totally right, it can be hard for some. And you're also totally right coming in because your gut tells you something isn't right, usually your gut knows" Barker replied, scrolling through her computer for past medical history of Hailey's. Whilst doing so, she asked Hailey general questions about her cycle and other general health questions that could explain the struggle, but the answers were nothing to raise concern about. However, Doctor Barker's facial expression turned serious and her general chat came to a halt; worrying Hailey deeply. "Is everything okay, Doctor?" Hailey asked, bouncing her legs up and down in anxious anticipation. "It says here that you suffered a blunt force trauma injury to your stomach when you were a child and around eight years ago. This could have something to do with it. Your second injury is explained, though your first one isn't...well, it is, but it doesn't make sense"

The memories of how the first injury happened came flooding back. The repeated hammer-like-kicks her father gave her right in the stomach. The screams she let off as he refused to stop; constantly yelling at her with his gruff, angry voice that she was useless and it was the least she deserved. Her heart rate and breath volume increased, a sweaty sheen layed itself across Hailey's fourhead. Barker saw the distressed state Hailey fell into, and when she wasn't replying to her name being called, Barker resorted to a gentle tap on the shoulder. "Hey, Hailey, are you okay?" Barker asked, very concerned about Hailey's turn. "Ugh, yeh, sorry" Hailey stuttered, coming back to reality slowly. "Are you sure, it looked like you just had a panic attack of some kind" Barker checked, not convinced at all that Hailey was okay. "Yeh, um, that injury just bought back some not-so-good memories" Hailey falsely smiled, nodding her head slowly. "I'm sorry, but you really are going to have to tell me" Barker apologised, feeling guilty about having to make Hailey reveal a darker side of her life.

Barker had to choak back tears as Hailey told her what happened that day, she was blown away with the fact a father could do so much damage. Barker was fully aware it happened, but hearing in person wasn't something she was prepared for. "I'm so sorry, Hailey" Barker whispered, passing Hailey a tissue. "That's the reason, isn't it?" Something inside Hailey already knew what conversation was about to come, she just wanted to jump to the end and get a simple yes or no. "After looking at all your previous blood work for hormones- which is completely normal- and looking at the scan from the first attack, it is. Your whole system is far too damaged to be able to even fertilise an egg, never mind grow one. I'm so sorry"
