Life's Too Short

After a pretty rough day at work, Hailey returned home with a pizza in one hand and the newly-perchesed DVD of the "Note Book" she saw sitting on the shelf in the supermarket. She'd never watched it before, and all her friends had said it was really emotional; so she thought why not? She was crying already, so how much more damage could she do?

Hailey quickly caught onto what was going on in the film, and before too long was in a soggy mess on her sofa eating overly priced frozen pizza. It was the actual definition of a pitty party. Just as the final few scenes were coming round, there was a familiar knock at Hailey's apartment door. She seriously wasn't in the mood for people- especially with the the current state she was in- however she knew who was kocking on the door just by its beat. Pausing the film and placing the pizza box to the side, she stood up and made her way over to the door; double checking it was actually Jay through the spy hole.

"Hey" Hailey smiled, opening up the door for Jay.

"Whoa...Hailey. You alright?" Jay asked, his tone leathered with concern for the crying blond infront of him. He was fully aware it had been a rough day for everyone, however, Jay didn't think it would after Hailey so badly. "Yeh, it's not fully what you think" Hailey lightly chuckled, moving so Jay could come inside. "I bought beers, but beers don't seem like it'll cut it this time" Jay said, kinda out his depth with Hailey for the first time ever. "Ha, beers will definitely do the job" Hailey replied, guiding Jay and his six pack back over to the sofa. "Ooo, you're watching THE NOTE BOOK, that explains" Jay let out a relieved laugh, noticing what was on Hailey's TV screen. "Yup. It's a killer. Not as bad as Hatchi by a long shot, but still bad" Hailey said, accepting the fresh bottle of beer of her partner. "Nothing will ever out run Hatchi in the sadness department" Jay agreed, no way could anything be worse than that film. "Watch the rest with me, so I don't have to cry twice?" Hailey requested in a questioning tone. "Nothing I'd rather do" Jay replied, a slight hint of sarcasm lacing the words. "What a guy" Hailey smirked, a deep chuckle escaping her. "I know" Jay winked, sitting back on the sofa as the film starts again.

By the end of the film, Hailey was practically sitting ontop of Jay. Her head was resting on Jay's chest, his arm wrapping her close to him, and her knees on his tighs- the closest the two had ever been, minus when he dove on top of her when their van got lit up. Under her ear, Hailey could feel how quickly Jay's heart was racing and it made hers increase even more than it already was. She inhaled a shaky breath, looking up to Jay from where she was across his chest; he had a few tears in his eyes, his eyes focused hard on the tail end of the film. Jay could feel and see Hailey looking up at him, so he glanced down to see if she was alright; she looked away quickly before he could make eye contact.

"You alright?" Jay asked

"Yeh" Hailey nodded, trying her best to keep her breathing under control.

"You're thinking something, Hails. Remember, I've got eyes aswell. Not just you" Jay reminded her, both of them able to see through each other so easily.

"It's just a sad film, ya know. Beautiful, but sad" Hailey said, messing with a loose piece of thread in Jay's pants seme.

"Makes you realise what's important in life aswell. I mean, ya know, dancing around"

The line was a total blur now. Jay wasn't talking about the film anymore, and Hailey was fully aware of that. She swallowed the lump at the back of her throat, unsure what to say.
"That's life though, dancing around...incase you lose them when you stop" Hailey commented, shrugging her shoulders slightly.

"Maybe...but not always" Jay said so sincerely and emotionally.

Hailey sat up and turned to face Jay properly, only to see a shade of darkness swirl in his emerald eyes; it was a look she'd never seen of Jay before. "No?"

"No" Jay repeated, more as a statement than a question like Hailey's "No".

The two looked into each others' eyes, having the conversation they were too terrified to have verbally. Their eyes said it all though: They cared too much for the other to just be friends. They needed each other. Wanted each other. So badly. Slowly, they both lent forward into each other; their lips touching for the first time ever. The fire inside them started to melt, the tenderness of the kiss melting away nervous tingle or firey passion. It was just love and tenderness. "See, not always" Jay whispered, looking so lovingly at Hailey after pulling away slightly. "Every dance has to come to a stop at some point I guess" Hailey bit her bottom lip, scanning Jay's face for any hint of what his thoughts were.
"Mmhmm" Jay hummed, leaning forward again and re-attatching their lips. This time more passionately than the kiss beforehand.
