Like usual, Jay woke up in the middle of the night as soon as he heard a noise. He'd been like that since his days in the Rangers, but how he was a new dad, his awareness was through the roof. Jay didn't know what even woke him up this time, his brain just knew a noise had been made and made Jay wake him.
He looked down to his right-hand-side, smiling at how squished Hailey's face looked against his chest and how her hair was scattered everywhere. Looking down to Hailey, was like looking at their seven month old baby girl- Mackenzie. She had the same bleach blond hair as Hailey, the same nose, and even the same face shape. The only thing she had of Jay's, was the emerald green eyes. Jay was completely head over heels with his baby girl. His heart exploded with how much love he held for both Hailey and Mackenzie at the same time. Jay was pretty sure his heart was dangerously close to exploding. Smiling down at the sleeping blond curled up beside him and thinking about how much Mackenzie looked like her Mum, Jay's heart wept at how much he missed his baby girl. He was comfy and didn't want to risk disturbing Hailey, but he needed to see Mackenzie so badly. He wouldn't go back to sleep till he saw her, that he was sure of.
Kissing Hailey gently on the head, he cautiously slipped away from her and out of the bed; continuing to tip-toe silently across the bedroom.
As he got to Mackenzie's bedroom, he mindfully opened the door and slid through the tiny gap into the bedroom. It's a beautiful, bright, and tranquil room: white painted walls with rustic decorations- most of them wooden and handmade animals that Vanessa had made for Mackenzie. Jay glided over to the back wall where Mackenzie layed fast asleep in her moses basket. Her thumb was held tightly in her button mouth, whilst her arms were protectively wrapped around a knitted bunny that Platt made for the new member of the unit. "Hey, Angel" Jay whispered, watching his mini World sleep so innocently and deeply. He slipped his finger underneath one of her's, not worried about waking her up- Mackenzie was like her Mum; once she was asleep, she was asleep and nothing was waking her. Her tiny finger was like a feather on Jay's large, protective one. It was a feeling Jay would forever cherish deep inside his heart, one that he would remember for ever and ever. That wasn't enough though, Jay needed to cradle her in his arms whilst she slept. So, he carefully snaked his hands under the tiny body and lifted up his baby girl into his arms; cradling her like you would a box of eggs.
He wandered the room a little bit, making sure she stayed asleep until morning and wasn't stured by the change of position. After a little while though, he took a seat in the rocking chair right next to the window. Him and Hailey often sat in the rocking chair reading stories to Mackenzie, or telling her how one day they're going to go on so many crazy adventures together. The couple planned the rest of their dream life in that one rocking chair.
"I love you, Kensi, more than you'll ever know. More than I'll ever know. I promise to keep showing you that and telling you that forever, nothing will ever change that. I promise" Jay whispered down to Kensi, caressing her silky cheeks soothingly with his finger. "No matter what" Jay added, letting his head fall back and began rocking back and forth on the chair.
