"Waving through a window"
"I try so speak, but nobody can hear" - Waving through a window; Dear Even Hansen.

A/N: So, I came up with an idea to do a one shot on this anyway, after we got that video that showed Tracy filming on a sofa, and then the hint that she isn't sleeping or drinking. And then I was listening to the song "Waving through a window" and it kinda symbolised how Hailey is hinted to be feeling. Like, she wants to tell everyone and is trying to in her own way, but nobody is really picking up that she's struggling as much as she is....exept Jay.

It was six in the morning and Jay woke up on the dot like he did every morning. In his sleepy daze, he couldn't feel Hailey wrapped in his arms and as he reached across to blindly find her, he felt Hailey's side of the bed empty and stone cold. Again. It was about the third morning in a row that he'd woken up with Hailey's side of the bed being stone cold- adding to the list of peculiar patterns that Jay had mentally racked up about Hailey since the day she out-the-blue proposed to him.

"Hailey?" Jay called out, slowly opening dozey eyes.

Along with no reply from the Blond, he couldn't see her either in the room- or any trace of her. Jay rubbed his eyes and threw on a top, climbing out of bed to go find Hailey.

When he opened the bedroom door, he saw Hailey facing the wall and reading something carefully. Just like he had the last three mornings. He'd asked her frequently what was bothering her, but she just replied with something along the lines of "just insomnia" and a flase smile.

"Morning" Jay chirped, not up for an early morning shouting match.

"Hey" Hailey replied tiredly, keeping focus on the book lying on her knees.

"How long you been up? Your side of the bed is stone cold" Jay questioned, lifting up her legs to sit down then placing them back on his lap.

"I don't know. A few hours. Couldn't sleep" Hailey shrugged, a fresh wave of anxiety coursing through her exhausted body.

Hailey hated lying to Jay. She promised him she wanted to be better and that she wouldn't run away from his or shut him out anymore; and she was doing great at that...until she shot Roy anyway. Since then, Hailey had shut down, pushed Jay away, had drastic mood swings and had barely eaten anything. Telling Jay was all Hailey wanted to do, but she was terrified he was going to walk away and hate her. Or, on the other hand, get too involved and end up putting his career on the line aswell- which Hailey wasn't having. Jay was a great cop, and Hailey promised herself that whatever happened with the Roy situation, Jay wouldn't be dragged down aswell. Not if she could help it.

"You haven't slept the last three nights either, Hails. Tell me what's going on, please" Jay softly pleaded, drawing soothing patterns along Hailey's shins.

"It's honestly nothing, Jay" Hailey whispered, her eyes swimming with fear and maybe even a few tears.

"Hails" Jay sighed, looking at her in a way that said "I wasn't born in the last rain shower and I can see right through you".
