Hailey paced her apartment back and forth anxiously. She couldn't get her mind off the fact that her bestfriend and team mate was missing, and that she'd been ordered to stay home and stay put. The rest of the team were allowed to work the case, but she wasn't- and she didn't know why. It drove her insane!
Tears sneakily slipped out her shining eyes, as she ran every moment of the day through her scrambled mind to try and see what she missed. Was someone watching them all day, and they got Kim when she was alone? Would it have made a difference if she went with Kim? All these questions aggravated her and made her sanity worse, resulting in her losing control and punching the wall. She hissed in pain, her knuckles instantly swelling up and bruising. "Ugh, why! For God sakes!" Hailey shouted in frustration. Hailey knew she needed to calm down quickly before she done something stupid, but she didn't know how to calm herself down. Coffee wasn't working, and a path was the last thing she wanted.
Grabbing her phone off the corner of the kitchen island, she spread dialed Jay- he was the only one who could calm her down.
"Hey, everything okay?" Jay asked, picking up after only one ring.
"H...have yous gotten any further? Any...thing I can d..do from home?" Hailey asked, trying to hide her now falling tears from Jay. Just at the sound of his soft voice over the phone calmed Hailey down a bit instantly. "Yeh, we've got pod footage of a possible lead. Kevin and Platt are out looking now. The rest of us are searching for anything more we can use. I don't think you can do anything, Hails" Jay answered, telling Hailey as much as he knew. "Although, you could not dodge my question about being okay...I can hear your tears, Hails" Jay added after a short pause in the conversation.
"Jay, I'm okay. I just wanna help find Kim. I don't know why I'm not allowed" Hailey replied.
"We all know that Voight was right in why he's put you off the case" Jay commented, unaware that Hailey wasn't aware why Voight had dropped her. "Hu?" Hailey grunted in confusion. "Hails, you suffered from nightmares since I got kidnapped and almost died. The last thing anyone needs is you breaking down, Voight's just looking out for you" Jay explained, his voice soft. "Great, I'm a weak link" Hailey snapped, hanging up the phone and throwing it against the wall.

Three hours later, Hailey heard a knock at the door causing her let out a loud, grizzly groan. She stormed over to the door and flung it open, jumping when she saw Jay on the other side. "Why aren't you looking for Kim?" Hailey usually lept for joy internally when seeing Jay, but- not offense to him- he was the last person she wanted to see right then.
"We've found her..."
Something about the tone of Jay's voice didn't sit right with Hailey, he didn't sound happy about the fact Kim had been found. "Is....is she?" Hailey gulped, her lips quivering frantically. "No. She's alive...barely. they're doing everything they can" Jay's voice was just a whisper, a whisper full of pain and almost defeatness. "Oh my God" The dam broke and tears gushed down Hailey's pale face, as she fell forward into Jay's arms; him quickly grabbing her to keep her up right. "She's gonna be okay" Jay murmered, hugging Hailey so tightly as he closed the apartment door with his foot and guided them both to the sofa. "N.....no, she can't die. She's a Mum" Hailey cried, her whole body shaking in Jay's arms. "She's strong...even stronger now she has Mackayla" Jay said, rubbing his hand up and down the blonds back.
Silence fell between the two officers, the only sound to be heard was the muffled crys of Hailey against Jay's coat. Jay just help his girl as tightly as he could, his heart shattering at the sight of his distraught world. "Shhh, it's gonna be okay- babe" Jay soothed, planting a kiss on Hailey's head and letting his own tears free. Kim was like a little sister to Jay aswell, he'd seen her grow into the amazing officer she was right from the get go. It terrified him that she might not mak it, but he daren't admit that infront of Hailey. "C...can we go to Med? We need to be there" Hailey asked, lifting her head to look at Jay. "Yeh, come on" Jay nodded, wiping Hailey's tears away with his sleeve.
