Jewish Man: The Passion Testament

31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

Priests: Represents the people before God and offeres various sacrifices prescribed in the law.

-His concern was to follow what is in the law.
-He didn't want to get involved.

32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

Levite: Member of the tribe of Levi, set apart as caretakers if the tabernacle and as aides to the Temple of God.

-Like leader, like follower.

33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

Samaritan: half-Jewish, half-Gentile who has conflict relations with the Jews.

-Moved by situation.

For us to see the real situation:
I-nvolvement (Initiate)
C-ommunication
U-nderstanding

*Luke 10:34a
"34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.

-Extend a helping hand.

-Ready to go the extra mile.

*Luke 6:26-36
"27 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
29 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.
30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them.
33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that.
34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full.
35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

*Luke 10:35
"35 The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'"

-Carry each other's burden.

*Galatians 6:2
"2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

*Luke 10:36
"36 "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
37 The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

"One's fellow being to be generous toward ones less fortunate neighbors."

-You are my accountability.

*Matthew 10:42
