*Revelation 8:1-13
"1 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

+Their response is silence.

*Revelation 4:8
"8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

"Heaven is a place of constant praise and worship to God."

"The judgements of misery and disaster poured out upon mankind so terrible that the very sight of those judgements renders all Heaven speechless and silent."

2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.
3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne.

Incense: symbol of worship and prayer

*Hebrews 4:15
"15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.
16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand.

"The ascending of the incense shows that the prayers and offering were accepted."

5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

"As God's people pray for the solution of all things, their prayers were consumed by the fire from the altar in heaven and then "thrown" back down to earth."

6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

The seventh plague of Egypt:
*Exodus 9:25
"25 Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields--both men and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.
26 The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were.

If 1/3 of the Earth will be burned up...
+We will experience severe weather, heat waves, drought and death.

8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood,

+It was a blazing form as large as a mountain.

What happens if an asteroid hits earth?
•size of an apartment: destroy a small city.
•20-storey building: can flatten a small country.
•With an asteroid hitting the Earth, dust and smoke rising in th atmosphere prevent sunlight from reaching our world and causes the total temperature to drop.
•can lead to the death of many living things.

9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

If ships were destroyed...
•shortage and high price in oil
•high price and shortage for the imported goods.
•affects the global economy
•import and export of products will be impossible

10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water--

+The third trumpet brings plague on fresh waters.

How long can you live without water?
-3 days

11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

+This phenomena show that God is in control of nature.
+It will affect crop growth, solar power, global climate and energy use.

*Colossians 1:16-17
"16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

"The first four trumpet reveal the gravity of God judgements -- all the ordinary means of life, such as food and water; and all the ordinary means of comfort, and knowledge such as light and the regular rhythm of days were affected."

"The first four trumpets also reveal the mercy of God's judgement; these are partial judgments striking only one-third, and are meant to warn and lead a rebellious world to repentance before the judgement."

13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: "Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!"

*Ephesians 2:4-5
"4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.
