Revival Night: Abba Father

=Abba Father=

*Romans 8:16-17
"16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Our Identity and Privileges in Christ
1. We have the RIGHT to call ourselves of children of GOD.

2. We are entitled to claim the privileges of being a son or daughter.
*John 1:12
"12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--

*Romans 8:15
"15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

3. We have been adopted and welcomed into the family of GOD.

4. We have the FREEDOM to shout HIS name.

*Romans 8:15

Abba: Onomatopoeic
--> written the way baby babbles; a word that expresses familiar intimacy with a father.

*1 John 3:1
"1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

5. We became children out of God's amazing LOVE.

6. We are special in God's sight!

9. We are an heir of GOD and co-heirs with Christ.

10. We can take possession of things that are of Jesus.

BUT

Why are we not experiencing the fullness of being a child?

CAUSES WHY WE ARE NOT EXPERIENCING THE FULLNESS OF BEING A CHILD OF GOD:
1. Wrong perspective of a father.

2. Doea not have a deep relationship with God as a father.

3. Disobedience.

4. Sin.

What are we supposed to do as God's children?
1. Acknowledge His presence.
*Matthew 6:9
"9 "This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,"

2. Bow down in Worship.
*John 4:23
"23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks."

3. Bring your request to Him.
*Matthew 6:8
"8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

4. Abide the will of the Father.
*Matthew 5:16
"16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

*1 Peter 2:9
"9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
