*Joshua 14:6

"Caleb had not been intimidated."
1. He asked for a challenge.
"If you always choose the EASY WAY, asking for the PEACEFUL VALLEYS, you will NEVER SEE GOD'S POWER DISPLAYED to enable you to take a mountain."
*Joshua 14:12
"Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said."
2. He did not trust in his own strength but in God's presence.
*Exodus 33:3,15-16
"3 Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way."
15 Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.
16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?"
*Psalms 84:10
"10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked."
*Psalms 121:4-5
"4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
*Joshua 14:12
"Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said."
3. He kept what God has promised.
There are 5,467 promises in the Bible.
*Joshua 14:10-11
"10 "Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the desert. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!
11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then."
*Psalms 23:4
"4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
What motivates Caleb to pursue God's promise to him?
1. He firmly believed that the promise of God is true.
2. He was not afraid to face the challenges.
