-fear of death

*Death
-is the devil's most powerful, terrifying weapon against us.

=I Am Alive!=

Jesus' Resurrection:
1. Fulfilled what He promised.
*Matthew 16:21
"21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

*John 2:18-21
"18 Then the Jews demanded of him, "What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?"
19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."
20 The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?"
21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body.

*Matthew 27:39-40
"39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads
40 and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"

*Luke 24:1-6
"1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.
5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?
6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:

*John 20:24-29
"24 Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it."
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"
27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."
28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

*John 2:22
"22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

"If Jesus speaks, He will fulfill it."

2. Conquered death.
*Romans 5:12
"12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--

*Revelation 1:18
"18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."

+Keys are a symbol of authority.

*1 Corinthians 15:55
"55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"

3. Granted us victory over death.
*Romans 8:37
"37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

+All these things: Daily we are facing dangers and death.

*1 Corinthians 15:17-20
"17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.
19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

*John 14:19b
"...Because I live, you also will live."

*John 11:25-26
"25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

"All of us here on earth are experiencing deterioration in our physical body, we cannot avoid old age, sickness, difficulties in life and also physical death."

"No matter how devastating our struggles, disappointments, and troubles are, THEY ARE ONLY TEMPORARY."

"No matter what happens to you, no matter the depth of tragedy or pain you face, no matter how death follows you... the Resurrection promises you a future of immeasurable good."

"Death is no longer a prison but a passage into God's presence."
