Overcoming Obscure Ordeal (Incomprehensible Testing)
1. Look Within
*Genesis 22:1
"1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied."
Tested: "Nasah" --> "to test the quality"
+Build-Up --> Faith (Level-up)
*Genesis 22:3-4
"3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.
4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
5 He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you."
+Left Behind --> Excess Baggages
*Genesis 22:5
"5 He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you."
+Worship --> Best Option
"When worse times come, the best thing you can do is to WORSHIP."
"True worship is not driven by emotions, but a solution to drive out negative emotions."
"True worship require sacrifice."
*Genesis 22:5
"5 He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you."
2. Look Back/Look Ahead
+Do not forget your lowland experience.
+Brings trust and confidence.
*Hebrews 11:17,19
"17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,
19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.
*Genesis 22:7
"7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"
8 Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together.
*John 8:56
"56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."
3. Look Up
*Genesis 22:13-14
"13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.
14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."
*Hebrews 12:1-2
"1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
