Hope

Desperate
-opposite of hope.

=Living Hope=

*1 Peter 1:6-7
"6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Rejoice: right attitude of a true believer of Christ.

+Sufferings are inevitable.

*1 Peter 4:15-16
"15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.
16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

7 These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

What is the purpose of sufferings in to our lives?
1. Faith must be tested.
*1 Peter 1:7

2. Faith must be genuine.

3. Genuine faith exalts God.

*1 Peter 1:3-5
"3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you,
5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

1. We have compassionate and forgiving Father.

*2 Peter 3:9
"9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2. God gave us a brand new life.

3. Our Lord and Savior is not dead.
