*2 Corinthians 1:21-22
"21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,
22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
+Anointing is the power and presence of God.
"The ANOINTING is the power of the Holy Spirit upon a person or the supernatural ability of God that comes upon a person and enables them to do things that they are not capable of doing with their own strength."
*1 Samuel 16:13
"13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah.
Manifestation of God's anointing in David's Life
*1 Samuel 16:15-18a
"15 Saul's attendants said to him, "See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you.
16 Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the harp. He will play when the or God comes upon you, and you will feel better."
17 So Saul said to his attendants, "Find someone who plays well and bring him to me."
18 One of the servants answered, "I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him."
1. David was a true worshipper.
*1 Samuel 16:23
"23 Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
2. David has a courageous attitude.
*1 Samuel 16:18
"18 One of the servants answered, "I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him."
Ways to show courage everyday:
1. Facing difficulties in life.
2. Stand up for your values and beliefs.
3. Ask for help.
4. Stand and do the right thing.
"David was never afraid to admit his shortcomings, ask for God's forgiveness and blessing, and improve himself."
3. David was a warrior of God.
*1 Samuel 16:18
"18 One of the servants answered, "I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him."
*1 Samuel 17:32-37
"32 David said to Saul, "Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him."
+Heroic Attitude
33 Saul replied, "You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth."
34 But David said to Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock,
35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.
36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.
37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you."
4. David was an encourager and a good motivator.
*1 Samuel 16:18
"... He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him."
*1 Samuel 22:2
"2 All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.
*Acts 4:13
"13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
*Acts 2:14,37,41
14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
5. David was fine in his appearance.
*1 Samuel 16:18
"He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him."
*1 Samuel 16:12a
"12 So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one."
"Beauty is the gift of God."
-Aristotle
6. God's power and character was manifested in him.
*1 Samuel 16:18
"... He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him."
*Acts 13:22
"22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.'
*Acts 13:36
"36 "For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed."
