The Mercenary

Part 25- J

I can see J on the roof of Steve's car shooting down at them
Y/N- use the damn break Steve
He does and J goes flying off the top of the car, Nat pulls over and we both get out
Y/N- Natasha, get any civilians away from here now
Nat- copy that, Sam you're with me
I run over to Steve and Wanda who are fighting J, Steve goes flying as J forces Wanda to the edge of the bridge

Y/N- J! Don't do it, look at me
He turns around and let's go of Wanda.
J- Sonny?
Y/N- yeah J it's me, it's okay just don't hurt anyone. Wanda get behind me now
She comes running over and stand behind you, Steve does the same
Y/N- I don't want to hurt you J so put the gun down
Tony flies over us as J aims his gun, I run towards him and tackle him off the side of the bridge
Wanda- Y/N!

Free falling, I hit a car parked below and the roof caves in. I look over and see J standing up, loading his grenade launcher.
Y/N- oh shit
He fires as I roll of the car, it explodes and flies over the top of me. I lay flat in the floor, pain soaring through my whole body but I wasn't going to give in. I had to stop him from hurting anyone else
Wanda- Y/N, are you okay?
Y/N- I'm fine, don't worry
Wanda- you're such an idiot
Y/N- yeah okay, punish me later
Wanda- oh don't worry, I'll accept that challenge

I sit up and see Steve fighting J whilst Nat is tending to civilians. I walk over to her
Y/N- you're going to need this
I take my bag off and hand it to her.
Y/N- there's basic medical supplies in there, help as many people as you can and get them away from here
Nat- Y/N, you're injured
Y/N- you should see the other guy
Nat- I have, there's not even a scratch
Y/N- thanks for the confidence boost

I run over to Steve and Wanda as vans start pulling up
Steve- we've got some company
Y/N- you two deal with them, I'm the only one who can get through to him
They nod and charge towards the vans
Y/N- J! You looking for me
I run off away from the agents and he follows me, I duck behind a car and wait for him to pass.
I see him and run up the car throwing myself on top of him. He catches me with ease so I wrap my arms around his neck, tightening my grip. He's strong but I'm holding him off. A van pulls up and more agents arrive surrounding me
Y/N- WANDA! I need your help!
I see her running over as he starts to overpower my grip around him flipping me over the top of him onto another car
Wanda sends him flying away and comes over to me
Wanda- are you okay?
Y/N- I'm fine, handle the agents and I'll stop J

I face up to J
Y/N- this isn't you J, I don't know what they've done to you but you aren't a killer
J- You are a traitor
Y/N- I left because Hydra are wrong, the avengers aren't bad people. They want to help you like they helped me.
He takes a few steps towards me and wraps his hand around my throat lifting me off the ground. I'm hitting his arm but it's made of metal, I'm not getting through that
J- You are our property, it's time we take control.
He starts saying words in Russian and you can feel your head spinning
J- Longing, rusted, seventeen
The pain gets worse by the second
Y/N- STOP! I can't do this again
J- daybreak, furnace, nine
I can feel him taking control and I can't speak, my body is fighting against my mind but I'm not winning
J- benign, homecoming
Sirens blare in the distance and J let's go out me. I drop to the floor
J- we aren't done here, you will be ours soon
He runs away towards a van with the agents.
I crawl backwards against a car, my head spinning and I can't concentrate
Wanda- Look at me Y/N. It's okay, I've got you

She stands me up and wraps her arm around my waist and pulls my arm over her shoulder
Wanda- don't worry, I'm going to help you. Just please tell me how
I try to talk but can't get any words out. My breathing is quick and uncontrolled
Wanda- I'm going to take you back to the tower and we will figure this out
She tries to move me but I'm stuck, I'm trying to move but my mind won't let me.
Wanda- you've got to fight Y/N. Nat, I need your help, something is wrong with Y/N

Nat POV-
I run over to Wanda and Y/N taking the medical bag with me in case she was injured
Nat- what happened?
Wanda- I don't know, J started talking in Russian and I didn't understand
I look into her eyes and she isn't there
Nat- Y/N, it's time to move hun
I wrap my arm around her and we try to move but Y/N isn't budging
Nat- Y/N please, we have to get out of here before the police arrive
She still doesn't move so I wrap my arm under her legs and pick her up. Wanda clears the path back to the car
I sit in the back with Y/N and nothing has changed.

Nat- what happened?
There's no reply
Nat- come on Y/N
I take her hand in mine and she squeezes it
Nat- hey, there you are. Can you tell me what happened?
There's nothing from her, Wanda keeps driving.
Nat- go to her apartment instead, she needs comfort
Wanda- yeah okay, how's she doing?
Nat- she squeezed my hand but I don't think she's there Wanda, he did something to her
