Hongjoong walked up to the nurses station, looking for his stethoscope, when he noticed Seonghwa coming out of a room just to right. He turned and waved as Seonghwa looked up.
'Park Saem, I saw your mentor looking for you about fifteen minutes ago.'
Seonghwa nodded slowly. 'I thought he might have been...'
Hongjoong frowned. 'Are you okay?'
He felt suddenly under scrutiny as seonghwa looked at him, his eyes lingering heavily on his face.
'U-uh, Park... Saem...?' His voice trailed off as he glanced around, wondering whether anyone else was seeing how intensely Seonghwa was looking at him.
'I should not do this.'
Hongjoong's brows pulled further together in confusion. 'What..? Shouldn't you do?'
Seonghwa bit his lip for a second, a look of complete and utter stress enveloping him. He ran his hand through his hair, ruffling it up despite it being neatly styled for work, before heaving a massive sigh. 'Fuck it.'
Hongjoong felt a jolt like a slap to the face when he heard Seonghwa swear.
'I shouldn't, I know I shouldn't, but if it were San, or Min, I would want to know.' He didn't even pause.
Striding forward, he grabbed Hongjoong's arm and pulled him away from the desk. Peering into a patient room and seeing it was empty, he dragged Hongjoong inside and shut the door. When he turned though, he just looked at his elder with such utter defeat. 'Wooyoung's down in emergency. Possible sepsis.'
And Hongjoong felt his knees go weak.
'W-what?' He staggered a little, and Seonghwa quickly steadied him. 'S-surely not...'
Seonghwa shook his head. 'I just saw San in emergency.'
Hongjoong felt his whole body fill with such shear terror.
'I- I- I have- I have to go.'
And everything he was supposed to be doing in that moment went out the window. Leaving the room at a sprint, a few nurses called out his name in confusion, but he didn't hear a single word.
He only had one place to be.
And it was not here.
