Yeosang dropped his phone.

It clattered to the floor, and the screen sounded like it shattered, but he didn't care.

His hands started shaking, and from where he was standing in the mens locker rooms, the whole world sounded like it went silent.

'Uh, Kang? You dropped your phone...'

'Kang Saem? Are you okay?'

His hands were shaking so much, so much...

Wooyoung...

He turned and rushed out of the room, leaving his coworkers confused, calling out after him.

But none of it mattered - none of it registered. All he could think was that his little brother was unwell - so unwell that he'd been admitted for emergency surgery without even having his ID sighted. Hongjoong hadn't said much on the phone other than that he'd just gone home to get his documents, and that he'd left San sitting in the theatre waiting room by himself.

Time blurred, and by the time he'd made it to the waiting room, he saw a figure sitting with his knees against his chest as he rocked himself anxiously. He was staring at the screen on the wall that had the procedure times on it for each bay, and their expected duration...

'San...'

The boy turned around, and Yeosang felt jolted by how guilty he looked. With tear stricken, blotchy cheeks and a demeanour that leaked self-reproach, Yeosang didn't even know what had happened, and yet he already knew that San blamed himself.

But no one was to blame. Especially not the person who looked so broken, tear stained cheeks waiting anxiously for time to tick by. Yeosang knew that.

And so he just walked up and sat beside him. He went to put an arm around him, but the boy instantly got up and bowed deeply to him, rubbing his hands together for forgiveness.

'I'm so sorry,  I'm so, so sorry. Hyung, I'm so sorry...'

Yeosang grabbed his forearm and dragged him back down to sit. 'Stop that and sit down.' He put his arm around the boy and gave him a hug - half for San, and half for himself. 'Which theatre is he in?'

'Three,' he whispered against his chest, his hand closing around the opening of Yeosang's white coat, holding it tightly.

Yeosang glanced up at the board and saw that he'd already been in for forty-five minutes. However there was no expected wait time displayed for that theatre.

'They won't tell me anything,' San choked out in devastation.

Yeosang nodded, running his fingers gently through his hair. 'I'll talk to them. I'm legally his brother, so they should to talk to me.'

San's body trembled in his arms and Yeosang felt awful for him. 'I don't know what happened, but Wooyoung is stubborn. I assume he refused treatment, and he doesn't like bothering people, so he would have kept to himself. Don't torture yourself, San. And don't get too upset too quickly. You don't want to jinx it.'

That was what he said, but what he felt, well, that was a different story entirely.
